- Abstract
- Moderne Verfahren des Information Retrieval verlangen nach aussagekräftigen und detailliert relationierten Dokumentationssprachen. Der selektive Transfer einzelner Modellierungsstrategien aus dem Bereich semantischer Technologien für die Gestaltung und Relationierung bestehender Dokumentationssprachen wird diskutiert. In Form einer Taxonomie wird ein hierarchisch strukturiertes Relationeninventar definiert, welches sowohl hinreichend allgemeine als auch zahlreiche spezifische Relationstypen enthält, die eine detaillierte und damit aussagekräftige Relationierung des Vokabulars ermöglichen. Das bringt einen Zugewinn an Übersichtlichkeit und Funktionalität. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Ansätzen und Überlegungen zur Schaffung von Relationeninventaren entwickelt der vorgestellte Vorschlag das Relationeninventar aus der Begriffsmenge eines bestehenden Gegenstandsbereichs heraus.

- Abstract
- Die Komplexizität medizinischer Fragestellungen und des medizinischen Informationsmanagements war seit den Anfängen der Informatik immer ein besonders wichtiges Thema. Trotz des Scheiterns der Künstlichen Intelligenz in den 80er Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts haben deren Kernideen Früchte getragen. Durch kongruente Entwicklung einer Reihe anderer Wissenschaftsdisziplinen und der exponentiellen Entwicklung im Bereich Computerhardware konnten die gestellten, hohen Anforderungen bei der medizinischen Informationssuche doch noch erfüllt werden. Die programmatische Forderung von Tim Berners-Lee betreffend "Semantic Web" im Jahr 2000 hat dem Thema Ontologien für maschinenlesbare Repositorien in Allgemein- und Fachsprache breitere Aufmerksamkeit gewonnen. Da in der Medizin (PubMed) mit dem von NLM schon vor 20 Jahren entwickelten Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) eine funktionierende Ontologie in Form eines semantischen Netzes in Betrieb ist, ist es auch für Medizinbibliothekare und Medizindokumentare hoch an der Zeit, sich damit zu beschäftigen. Ontologien können im Wesen, trotz der informatisch vernebelnden Terminologie, als Werkzeuge der Klassifikation verstanden werden. Hier sind von seiten der Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswissenschaft wesentliche Beiträge möglich. Der vorliegende Bericht bietet einen Einstieg in das Thema, erklärt wesentliche Elemente des UMLS und schließt mit einer kommentierten Anmerkungs- und Literaturliste für die weitere Beschäftigung mit Ontologien.

- Dieser Aufsatz ist kein Abgesang auf MeSH (= Medical Subject Headings in Medline/PubMed), wie man/frau vielleicht vermuten könnte. Vielmehr wird - ohne informatiklastiges Fachchinesisch - an Hand des von der National Library of Medicine entwickelten Unified Medical Language System erklärt, worin die Anforderungen an Ontologien bestehen, die im Zusammenhang mit dem Semantic Web allerorten eingefordert und herbeigewünscht werden. Eine Lektüre für Einsteigerinnen, die zum Vertiefen der gewonnenen Begriffssicherheit an Hand der weiterführenden Literaturhinweise anregt. Da das UMLS hier vor allem als Beispiel verwendet wird, werden auch Bibliothekarlnnen, Dokumentarlnnen und Informationsspezialistinnen anderer Fachbereiche den Aufsatz mit Gewinn lesen - und erfahren, dass unser Fachwissen aus der Sacherschließung und der Verwendung und Mitgestaltung von Normdateien und Thesauri bei der Entwicklung von Ontologien gefragt ist! - Abstract
- Moderne Verfahren des Information Retrieval verlangen nach aussagekräftigen und detailliert relationierten Dokumentationssprachen. Der selektive Transfer einzelner Modellierungsstrategien aus dem Bereich semantischer Technologien für die Gestaltung und Relationierung bestehender Dokumentationssprachen wird diskutiert. Am Beispiel des Gegenstandsbereichs "Theater" der Schlagwortnormdatei wird ein hierarchisch strukturiertes Relationeninventar definiert, welches sowohl hinreichend allgemeine als auch zahlreiche spezifische Relationstypen enthält, welche eine detaillierte und damit funktionale Relationierung des Vokabulars ermöglichen. Die Relationierung des Gegenstandsbereichs wird als Ontologie im OWL-Format modelliert. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Ansätzen und Überlegungen zur Schaffung von Relationeninventaren entwickelt der vorgestellte Vorschlag das Relationeninventar aus der Begriffsmenge eines vorgegebenen Gegenstandsbereichs heraus. Das entwickelte Inventar wird als eine hierarchisch strukturierte Taxonomie gestaltet, was einen Zugewinn an Übersichtlichkeit und Funktionalität bringt.

- Das Internet-Portal >FIZ Wirtschaft< bündelt wichtige Informationsbestände der vier Institutionen GBI, HWWA, ifo Institut und ZBW zu den Bereichen Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Betriebswirtschaft, Volkswirtschaft und Politik zu einem umfassenden Informationspool. Das Spektrum ist breit gefächert und umfasst auch Informationen zu Randgebieten von betriebswirtschaftlichen Aspekten in der Produktion bis hin zu Rechtsfragen und Umweltökonomie. Recherchen in vordefinierten Themenpools oder Einzeldatenbanken, Nutzung von Online-Katalogen, Abspeichern von Profildiensten, Durchführung von Auftragsrecherchen oder auch individuelle Intranetanbindungen sind realisierbar. Zudem bietet FIZ Wirtschaft auch eine Volltextbestellung bei den Instituten HWWA, ito Institut und ZBW zu den recherchierten Dokumenten. Geordert werden kann Material aus der ganzen Welt. Eingebunden ist auch der StandardThesaurus-Wirtschaft als Hilfsmittel zur Suche nach Schlagworten oder Begriffen, aber auch als generelle Orientierungshilfe im wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Begriffsumfeld mit direkter Suchmöglichkeit. Das Portal ist daher eine Fundgrube für alle, die wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Informationen benötigen wie Mitarbeiter in volkswirtschaftlichen Abteilungen von Firmen, Unternehmensberatungen, wirtschaftlichen Verbänden und Sparkassen

- Abstract
- Ein Konferenzereignis der besonderen Art fand am 18. und 19. November 2010 in Luxemburg statt. Initiiert durch das Amt für Veröffentlichungen der Europäischen Union (http://publications.europa.eu) waren Bibliothekare und Information Professionals eingeladen, um über die Zukunft mehrsprachiger kontrollierter Vokabulare in Informationssystemen und insbesondere deren Beitrag zum Semantic Web zu diskutieren. Organisiert wurde die Konferenz durch das EuroVoc-Team, das den Thesaurus der Europäischen Union bearbeitet. Die letzte EuroVoc-Konferenz fand im Jahr 2006 statt. In der Zwischenzeit ist EuroVoc zu einem ontologie-basierten Thesaurusmanagementsystem übergegangen und hat systematisch begonnen, Semantic-Web-Technologien für die Bearbeitung und Repräsentation einzusetzen und sich mit anderen Vokabularen zu vernetzen. Ein produktiver Austausch fand mit den Produzenten anderer europäischer und internationaler Vokabulare (z.B. United Nations oder FAO) sowie Vertretern aus Projekten, die an Themen über automatische Indexierung (hier insbesondere parlamentarische und rechtliche Dokumente) sowie Interoperabilitiät zwischen Vokabularen arbeiten, statt.

- Das aktuelle Wissen der Welt im Spiegel einer Weltausstellung: Wie stellt man das dar und wie macht man es Interessierten zugänglich - in der Ausstellung, in Publikationen, im Funk und über das Internet? Was man alles auf einer Weltausstellung an der Schwelle zum dritten Jahrtausend sehen und erfahren kann, sprengt in Fülle und Vielfalt jeden individuell faßbaren Rahmen. Schmitz-Esser zeigt in seinem Buch, wie der Besucher wahlweise in vier Sprachen die Weltausstellung erleben und die Quintessenz davon mitnehmen kann. - Abstract
- Vor dem Hintergrund des Aufbaus eines einheitlichen, effizienten und endnutzerorientierten Bundestagsinformationssystems sowie des bevorstehenden Umzugs des Parlaments von Bonn nach Berlin hat der Deutsche Bundestag beschlossen, für die Pressedokumentation ein elektronisches Produktions-, Recherche- und Archivsystem einzuführen. Dort soll neben der Volltextrecherche den Abgeordneten auch die Möglichkeit zu einer qualifizierten Recherche mittels kontrollierter Schlagworte angeboten werden. Auf der Grundlage einer Bestandsaufnahme zur bisherigen konventionellen Arbeitsweise des Pressedokumentation und zu den innerhalb des wissenschaftlichen Dokumentation beim Deutschen Bundestag bereits etablierten Thesauri werden in dem vorliegenden beitrag die sich daraus ergebenden Konsequenzen für die Konzeption des hierzu aufzubauenden Pressethesaurus dargelegt
