    Abstract
In this article we examine automated language-independent authorship verification using text examples in several representative Indo-European languages, in cases when the examined texts belong to an open set of authors, that is, the author is unknown. We showcase the set of developed language-dependent and language-independent features, the model of training examples, consisting of pairs of equal features for known and unknown texts, and the appropriate method of authorship verification. An authorship verification accuracy greater than 90% was accomplished via the application of stylometric methods on four different languages (English, Greek, Spanish, and Dutch, while the verification for Dutch is slightly lower). For the multilingual case, the highest authorship verification accuracy using basic machine-learning methods, over 90%, was achieved by the application of the kNN and SVM-SMO methods, using the feature selection method SVM-RFE. The improvement in authorship verification accuracy in multilingual cases, over 94%, was accomplished via ensemble learning methods, with the MultiboostAB method being a bit more accurate, but Random Forest is generally more appropriate

    Abstract
Social cataloging websites, such as Goodreads, LibraryThing, and StoryGraph are widely popular with individuals who want to track their reading and read reviews. Goodreads is one of the most popular sites with 90 million registered users as of 2019. This paper studies a Goodreads cataloging rule, NOT A BOOK (NAB), through which users designate items as invalid to the site's scope while preserving some of their metadata. By reviewing NAB, we identify thirteen types of invalid items. We go on to discuss how these item types unevenly reflect the rule itself and the emergence of a "non-book" sense through social cataloging.

    Abstract
In shared computerized cataloguing, the interrelationship of types of record usage means that the quality of the source bibliographic records, can affect users. Reports on a research project, carried out by the UK Office for Library and Information Networking (UKOLN), Bath University, using bibliographic records on the BLCMP Database, to investigate record quality. The technique used was a simple count of the number of records edited. Overall, the standard of records was found to meet the needs of the majority of member libraries, with records found for approximately 90% of items, and around 80% of the records found being used without editing. Specific issues emerging from the study included: the increase in access points to records increases the risk of retrieval being affected by errors in data; indicators in records for Welsh language items raises the question as to whether there is a similar problem with other languages; divergences in practice with fields 250, 260 and 300; and records which are the result of retrospective conversions may have specific characteristics
