    Abstract
    Beschäftigt man sich mit Inhaltserschließung, so sind zunächst zwei Dimensionen zu unterscheiden - die Wissensorganisationssysteme selbst (z. B. Normdateien, Thesauri, Schlagwortsprachen, Klassifikationen und Ontologien) und die Metadaten für Dokumente, die mit diesen Wissensorganisationssystemen erschlossen sind. Beides steht in einer Wechselwirkung zueinander: Die Wissensorganisationssysteme sind die Werkzeuge für die Erschließungsarbeit und bilden die Grundlage für die Erstellung konkreter Erschließungsmetadaten. Die praktische Anwendung der Wissensorganisationssysteme in der Erschließung wiederum ist die Basis für deren Pflege und Weiterentwicklung. Zugleich haben Wissensorganisationssysteme auch einen Eigenwert unabhängig von den Erschließungsmetadaten für einzelne Dokumente, indem sie bestimmte Bereiche von Welt- oder Fachwissen modellartig abbilden. Will man nun Aussagen über die Qualität von inhaltlicher Erschließung treffen, so genügt es nicht, den Input - also die Wissensorganisationssysteme und die damit generierten Metadaten - zu betrachten. Man muss auch den Output betrachten, also das, was die Recherchewerkzeuge daraus machen und was folglich bei den Nutzer:innen konkret ankommt. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden Überlegungen zur Qualität von Recherchewerkzeugen in diesem Bereich angestellt - gewissermaßen als Fortsetzung und Vertiefung der dazu im Thesenpapier des Expertenteams RDA-Anwendungsprofil für die verbale Inhaltserschließung (ET RAVI) gegebenen Hinweise. Im Zentrum steht die verbale Erschließung nach den Regeln für die Schlagwortkatalogisierung (RSWK), wie sie sich in Bibliothekskatalogen manifestiert - gleich, ob es sich dabei um herkömmliche Kataloge oder um Resource-Discovery-Systeme (RDS) handelt.

    Abstract
    Bekanntlich führen Suchmaschinen wie Google &Co. beider Auflistung der Suchergebnisse ein "Ranking" nach "Relevanz" durch, d.h. die Dokumente werden in absteigender Reihenfolge entsprechend ihrer Erfüllung von Relevanzkriterien ausgeben. In Online-Katalogen (OPACs) ist derlei noch nicht allgemein übliche Praxis, doch bietet etwa das im Österreichischen Bibliothekenverbund eingesetzte System Aleph 500 tatsächlich eine solche Ranking-Option an (die im Verbundkatalog auch implementiert ist). Bislang liegen allerdings kaum Informationen zur Funktionsweise dieses Features, insbesondere auch im Hinblick auf eine Hilfestellung für Benutzer, vor. Daher möchten wir mit diesem Beitrag versuchen, den in unserem Verbund bestehenden Informationsstand zum Thema "Relevance Ranking" zu erweitern. Sowohl die Verwendung einer Ranking-Option in OPACs generell als auch die sich unter Aleph 500 konkret bietenden Möglichkeiten sollen im folgenden näher betrachtet werden.

    Abstract
    In dandelon.com werden im Gegensatz zu den bisherigen Federated Search-Portal-Ansätzen die Titel von Medien neu mittels intelligentCAPTURE dezentral und kollaborativ erschlossen und inhaltlich stark erweitert. intelligentCAPTURE erschließt maschinell bisher Buchinhaltsverzeichnisse, Bücher, Klappentexte, Aufsätze und Websites, übernimmt bibliografische Daten aus Bibliotheken (XML, Z.39.50), von Verlagen (ONIX + Cover Pages), Zeitschriftenagenturen (Swets) und Buchhandel (SOAP) und exportierte maschinelle Indexate und aufbereitete Dokumente an die Bibliothekskataloge (MAB, MARC, XML) oder Dokumentationssysteme, an dandelon.com und teils auch an Fachportale. Die Daten werden durch Scanning und OCR, durch Import von Dateien und Lookup auf Server und durch Web-Spidering/-Crawling gewonnen. Die Qualität der Suche in dandelon.com ist deutlich besser als in bisherigen Bibliothekssystemen. Die semantische, multilinguale Suche mit derzeit 1,2 Millionen Fachbegriffen trägt zu den guten Suchergebnissen stark bei.
