    Abstract
    Videogames are important cultural and economic artifacts. They also present challenges that anticipate the problems inherent in any complex digital interactive system. Not only are they digital and hence very difficult to preserve but they also are software systems that have significant hardware, peripheral, and network dependencies, which are difficult to collect and formally represent. This article reviews the literature related to videogame preservation. In addition to covering the traditional technology-related issues inherent in all digital preservation endeavors, this review also attempts to describe the complexities and relationships between the traditional acts of technology preservation, representation, and collection development. Future work should include the identification of important user groups, an examination of games' context of use, and the development of representational models to describe interaction of players with the game and the interactions between players playing the game.

    Abstract
    Die International Bibliography of Bibliographies in Library and Information Science and Related Fields gliedert sich in zwei Teile mit insgesamt 61 Sachkapiteln, die das gesamte Spektrum der Themen rund um das Bibliothekswesen abdecken. Der erste Teil "General" umfaßt neun allgemeine Themenbereiche aus dem gesamten Bibliothekswesen. Im zweiten Teil folgen 52 systematisch nach speziellen Sachgebieten geordnete Kapitel: von "Access to library resources and services" über "Children's literature" und "Micrographics, Microforms" bis zu "Use and users in library and information services". Zusätzliche geographische bzw. chronologische Gliederungskriterien bestimmen den Aufbau zahlreicher Unterkapitel. Jeder Eintrag führt zunächst die bibliographischen Angaben (Autor oder Herausgeber, Titel, Verlag, bei Aufsätzen den jeweiligen Buch- oder Zeitschriftentitel mit Seitenangabe, eventuell Reihentitel, Erscheinungsjahr, Seitenzahl) au£ Hierauf folgen erläuternde Anmerkungen, ggf. mit der englischen Übersetzung des Originaltitels, mit Hinweisen auf Parallelausgaben und andere Auflagen, eine kurze Inhaltsangabe sowie Hinweise auf Rezensionen - auch über den Berichtszeitraum der Bibliographie hinaus.     Abstract
    The Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) data model holds great potential for improving access to library resources, but may not affect all libraries in the same way. The Joint Steering Committee for Revision of AACR (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules), assisted by the work of its Format Variation Working Group, is exploring ways to incorporate FRBR into the next edition of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules to facilitate collocation at the level of the FRBR entity expression. Several library system vendors are also adding FRBR-based functionality to their systems. A combination of these two approaches to FRBR can provide significant benefits to users. Most FRBR entities and attributes are already present in library catalog records, and the influence of FRBR can also be seen in existing library activities. FRBR is thus not something totally foreign, but a fresh, more rigorous way of thinking about what libraries already do that provides a basis for designing new ways to improve users' access to library resources.

    Der bis 1999 vom Deutschen Bibliotheksinstitut mit dem Online-System IBAS angebotene Retro-VK liegt jetzt auf fünf CD-ROMs mit dem System Allegro (alcarta) vor. Damit wird die Übernahme von Titelaufnahmen sowohl im MAB2-Format (Download) als auch im Allegro-Format (Download und Copy-Funktion) zum Zwecke der Konversion ermöglicht. Lokaldaten sind nicht enthalten. Ausgangsmaterial sind die im damaligen DBI zusammengeführten Titelaufnahmen bis Erwerbungsjahr 1996 der zu diesem Zeitpunkt sieben Verbundsysteme.

    Abstract
    On the 22nd of July, 1989, the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) was founded. Starting in August 1989 ISKO had an official organ, the journal International Classification. This Journal was founded in 1974 by Dr. Ingetraut Dahlberg, the first President of the ISKO. With volume 20 (1993) the name of the journal was changed to Knowledge Organization. This bibliography has been compiled on the occasion of the second decade of ISKO. This bibliography indexes the content of International Classification and Knowledge Organization starting with International Classification volume 16(1989) issue 3 and ending with Knowledge Organization volume 26(1999) issue 3. All articles and all book reviews are included. From the news items, only those for which an author is mentioned and that were especially written for International Classification or Knowledge Organization, are entered in this bibliography. The bibliography also contains the papers of conferences organized by the International Society for Knowledge Organization, one of its national chapters, or sponsored by the ISKO or one of its chapters. If we overlooked a conference of which the papers should have been included, we apologize for this omission. A list of the conferences included can be found in the list of abbreviations. The bibliography is based on the literature that was available to the compilers. However, not all conference proceedings included in the bibliography could be found in sources available to us. In these cases descriptions from the bibliographies in International Classification and Knowledge Organization were used. For a few proceedings the help of national chapters was sought and obtained. They deserve our thanks. The bibliography is ordered according to the classification used for the current bibliography in Knowledge Organization. The complete classification - as it is used now - is published in this issue of Knowledge Organization. The bibliography also includes an Author Index. We want to add that this bibliography is more complete than the bibliographies in International Classification and Knowledge Organization.
