- In Dec 95 the RISM database of series A/II: music manuscripts after 1600, appeared on CD-ROM, continuing the microfiches of 1084 and 1986. The CD-ROM covers 160.000 works of over 8.000 composers available for retrieval through manuscript sources in 491 libraries and archives in 22 countries. This is the most comprehensive documentation in this field so far, although there are probably over 1,5 million other manuscripts in existence too

- Abstract
- Ende 2007 wurde die "Vereinbarung zur Strategischen Allianz zwischen dem Bibliotheksverbund Bayern (BVB) und dem Kooperativen Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV)" beschlossen). Infolgedessen werden die Kataloge von vielen Bibliotheken aus Berlin und Brandenburg zusammengeführt. Die beteiligten Bibliotheken sind teils SISIS-, teils Aleph-Bibliotheken. Die UB des Bibliotheks- und Informationszentrum (BIZ) Frankfurt (Oder) hat für die SISIS-Bibliotheken die Pilotierung übernommen. Es soll im Folgenden nicht das Verfahren der Beschlussfassung in dieser Sache thematisiert werden, sondern es sollen einige Anmerkungen gemacht werden zur Berlin-Brandenburgischen Bibliotheksgeschichte bzgl. Verbundkatalogisierung und lokal autonomer Katalogisierung im Hinblick auf die Allianz sowie gewisse Rahmenbedingungen und einiger Details der Migration bei uns. Im Jahr 1994 trat das Land Brandenburg dem "Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg" (BVBB), davor "Berliner Bibliotheksverbund", BBV), (ehem. "Berliner Monographienverbund" bei. Dieser Anschluss lief für die UB der EUV so: Es wurden keine bestehenden Titelaufnahmen, d.h. keine alten Bestände, in den BVBB-Katalog gemeldet, sondern nur neue. Um Doppelarbeit zu vermeiden und die Titelaufnahmen sofort im Katalog zu haben, haben wir in Frankfurt (Oder) Titelaufnahmen mit der sog. Softcopy in den Lokalkatalog eingearbeitet. Es ging bei dieser Migration deshalb nicht um die vollständige Übernahme der Titelaufnahmen der UB der EUV, sondern "nur" um die Übernahme der neu erstellten Titelaufnahmen. Es gab daher in unserem Katalog damals zugleich BVBB- und nicht-BVBB-gestützte Titelaufnahmen.

- Abstract
- Wie bereits vor einiger Zeit im BIBLIOTHEKDIENST berichtet, wurde der Neubau der UB Kiel am 1. Dezember 2000 fertiggestellt. Der Umzug der ca. 100 Mitarbeiter und über 1 Million Bücher dauerte vier Monate. Bis auf drei Schließungstage wurde der normale Betrieb auch während dieser Zeit vollständig aufrechterhalten - eine logistische Herausforderung, verbunden mit einem wesentlich erhöhten Arbeitsaufwand. Eine Ausnahme gab es dennoch: die Zettelkataloge. Sie konnten wir getrost stehen lassen bzw. - pietätlos ausgedrückt - entsorgen. Pünktlich zum realen Umzug war auch die retrospektive Konversion abgeschlossen: Die Benutzerkataloge sind allesamt digitalisiert und bilden jetzt einen alles umfassenden Online-Katalog der Zentralbibliothek. Den ursprünglich für die Zettelkataloge vorgesehenen Platz nehmen nun zusätzliche Benutzercomputer für die Katalogrecherche und Bestellung ein

- Abstract
- Am 26. Januar startet "Zeitgeschichte-online" - ein neues Internetportal mit einem umfangreichen Informationsangebot für die zeithistorische Forschung. Das Portal erschließt zeithistorische Internet-Ressourcen, enthält Tagungsberichte, Rezensionen sowie redaktionell betreute Themenangebote und ermöglicht eine komfortable Katalog- und Datenbanksuche. Teil des Portals ist außerdem die neue Fachzeitschrift "Zeithistorische Forschungen/Studies in Contemporary History". Sie erscheint in zwei Ausgaben: einer Online-Version und einer parallelen Druckausgabe (beim Verlag Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, http://www.v-r.de). Das Fachportal "Zeitgeschichte-online" ist ein gemeinsames Projekt des Zentrums für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam und der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Es ist zugleich als ein Modul des geschichtswissenschaftlichen Portals "Clio-online" konzipiert (http://www.clioonline.de) und kooperiert eng mit dem Informationsdienst "H-Soz-u-Kult" (http://hsozkult.geschichte.hu-berlin.de). Das Projekt wird von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefördert. Ausführlichere Projektinformationen gibt es unter http://www.zeitgeschichte-online.de.

- Abstract
- Die 10. InetBib-Tagung fand vom 9. bis 11. April in den Räumlichkeiten der neuen Universität in Würzburg und damit zum ersten Mal in Bayern statt. Über 450 Teilnehmer und rund 40 Vorträge bedeuteten eine neue Rekordbeteiligung. InetBib 2.0 - der Name der Tagung war Programm: Diskutiert wurden die Web-2.0-Technologien und deren Einsatz in Bibliotheken sowie ihr Mehrwert für Nutzer und Mitarbeiter. Neben diesen Themen, die auch das Second Life, die Bibliothek 2.0, den Katalog 2.0 sowie den Bibliothekar 2.0 berührten, wurden ebenfalls eher praktische Fragen aus dem Alltag behandelt, wie zum Beispiel das neue Urheberrecht und seine Konsequenzen für den Kopienversand, die Anforderungen virtueller Studiengänge an Bibliotheken und die Möglichkeiten, Benutzern eBooks anzubieten.

- Im Industriegüterbereich sind elektronische Katalog im Kommen. Der Elektrotechnik-Hersteller Klöckner-Moeller, Bonn, stellt seinen Kunden im Herbst einen elektronischen Katalog zur Verfügung, mit dem das Bestellwesen in vielen Punkten vereinfacht und beschleunigt wird. Im Januar ging eine Testversion an ausgewählte Kunden, die ihre ganz speziellen Erwartungen an die elektronische Einkaufshilfe noch beisteuern sollen
