In: Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology. 57(2006) no.4, S.448-461.
Abstract: Most Web search tools integrate sponsored results with results from their internal editorial database in providing results to users. The goal of this research is to get a better idea of how much of the screen real estate displays real editorial results as compared to sponsored results. The overall average results are that 40% of all results presented on the first screen are real results, and when the entire first Web page is considered, 67% of the results are nonsponsored results. For general search tools such as Google, 56% of the first screen and 82% of the first Web page contain nonsponsored results. Other results include that query structure makes a significant difference in the percentage of nonsponsored results returned by a search. Similarly, the topic of the query also can have a significant effect on the percentage of sponsored results displayed by most Web search tools.

3Woodward, J.: Cataloging and classifying information resources on the Internet.
In: Annual review of information science and technology. 31(1996), S.189-219.
Abstract: State of the art review exploring the problem of bibliographic citations to resources that exist only in electronic form where the cited items may no longer be locatable at the URL indicated. Notes that the Internet is currently in a state of near chaos in terms of access and organization, while searching, usually performed with word based search engines, is generally not adequate for the needs of most users. Reviews strategies used by librarians for cataloguing and classifying information resources on the Internet. Techniques used include: automatic classification projects and classified subject trees, like the BUBL Subject Tree; CyberDewey, and the WWW Virtual Library. Considers OPAC like library catalogues such as the UK's CATRIONA Project and OCLC's InterCat. Explores retrieval tools used with concept analysis and other non traditional proposals, which include some library expertise, usually the use of one of the major library classifications. Pays particular attention to the UDC

6Hayward, J.W.: Shifting worlds, changing minds : where the sciences and Buddhism meet.
Boston : New Science Library, 1987. 310 S.
ISBN 0-97773-368-6
(New science library)
Abstract: Since this book is into shifting worlds and changing minds it is best approached with a perspective open to change. What you get is a systematic dismantling of the cult of rationality through an examination of human perception. The result is a simpler, more natural way of being, free from the limitations of particular belief systems. The idea is that the emancipated mind finds peace through awareness and compassion. It is clearly written, but a bit scholarly drawing from a broad base of scientific and philosophical thought. As such it organizes and makes accessible some of the brightest thinkers of all time.
