Abstract
In Dec 1997, the OCLC RetroCon service completed a 7 year retrospective conversion project, converting to machine readable form more than 579.000 records for monographic and serial preservation masters listed in the (US) National Register of Microform Masters (NRMM). The NRMM reports are now accessible internationally via WorldCat and the RLIN database. Describes the record details, background and project history, financing the conversion, the role of the Library of Congress and other project partners, the bibliographic guidelines and quality review, and future directions: particularly in respect of the provision of rapid access to the micrfilms
