Abstract

Describes the main characteristics of hypertext, illustrating how it can be used to integrate a collection of disparate legal documents. Sets out the advantages of hypertext systems for the user, comparing it with traditiional information retrieval. Suggests that since the strenghts and weaknesses of both are complementary, their integration could afford users considerable advantages. Considers the need for standardisation to facilitate the interchange of data and describes how this might be achieved through a markup language such as SGML
