    Abstract
    Im Oktober 1997 nahm die Universitätsbibliothek Regensburg die Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) als neue kooperativ organisierte Dienstleistung mit anfangs einem Projektpartner in Betrieb. Zehn Jahre später ist sie in mehr als 400 Bibliotheken als Nutzerservice für wissenschaftliche Volltextzeitschriften im Einsatz. Darüber hinaus ist sie vielfältig mit anderen digitalen Diensten vernetzt und nicht zuletzt auch dadurch zu einem festen Bestandteil der digitalen Infrastruktur für die wissenschaftliche Literatur- und Informationsversorgung in Deutschland geworden. Die EZB findet nach wie vor große Akzeptanz bei ihren Nutzern. Allein im Jahr 2007 konnte sie mehr als 16 Millionen Titelnutzungen zählen.

    Abstract
    »Wann versteht mich mein Computer endlich?« So könnte man die Quintessenz der 1. DGI-Konferenz, ausgerichtet von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Informationswissenschaft und Informationspraxis (DGI) anlässlich der diesjährigen Frankfurter Buchmesse zusammenfassen, in deren Rahmen zugleich die 62. DGI-Jahrestagung stattgefunden hat. Unter dem Motto »Semantic Web & Linked Data - Elemente zukünftiger Informationsinfrastrukturen« kamen vom 7. bis 9.     Abstract
    Die Universitätsbibliothek Bielefeld hat vom 3. bis 5. Februar fast 400 Informationsexperten aus 30 Ländern zur 9. Internationalen Bielefeld Konferenz willkommen geheißen. »Up-grading the eLibrary: Enhanced Information Services Driven by Technology and Economics« lautete das Thema der diesjährigen Konferenz. Im Mittelpunkt stand das Thema »eLibrary«. Geänderte Modelle wissenschaftlicher Zusammenarbeit, neue Technologien, die Anforderungen der Nutzer, aber auch ökonomische Entwicklungen erfordern eine Weiterentwicklung der »electronic library« zur »enhanced library«. Diese Entwicklung birgt neue Herausforderungen, eröffnet aber auch neue Möglichkeiten für eine Optimierung wissenschaftlicher Informationsdienste.

    Abstract
    Describes the origins and development to date of OLUC, the worldwide bibliographic database of OCLC launched by Ohio College in 1971. OLUC now has over 34m records, with publications in 400 languages. Aftere arly criticism of database accuracy, OCLC began quality improvement programmes in the 1990s, introducing the TechPro 'turnkey cataloguing' and Prompt-Cat acquisitions services. Explains how OLUC solved the 3 problems of duplicated records, sparse bibliographic data, and too many author and subject headings. OCLC has invested heavily in improving data quality, launching an authority control service in early 1996. Provides details of several cooperation programmes started by OCLC, e.g. Conser, USNP, NACO, Enhance and others
