Abstract

Film/video comprises 5 genres: information, documentary, narrative or enterteinment, enrichment, and experimental or surreal, each with its own distinguishing characteristics of purpose, primary audience, production techniques and scope, plot plausibility, characterization, verisimilitude, and distribution scheme. The empathy each creates in the audience is a function of five elements of filmic design: camery angle, close up, composition, continuity and cutting. Film/video scripting is designing for the eye, for the film/video is meant to be seen, not heard. A sample script and storyboard illustrate these concepts
