Multimedia - die Kombination von Wort, Ton und Bild in elektronischer Form - ist dabei, viele Bereiche unseres Lebens rasant zu verändern. Es gibt jedoch immer noch eine Menge Unklarheiten und Mißverständnisse. Der Autor gibt auch technischen Laien einen Überblick über die vielfältigen Anwendungs- und Einsatzmöglichkeiten von Multimedia. Er untersucht Zweck und Nutzen dieser revolutionären Technik im Bildungswesen, in der Wirtschaft und in der Unterhaltungsindustrie. Auch die Konsequenzen für Verlage, Buchhandlungen und Bibliotheken werden diskutiert
