Abstract
Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Repräsentation räumlichen wissens. Räumliche Information kann sowohl propositional, z.B. in Form von logikbasierten Repräsentationen, als auch bildhaft, z.B. in Form von Skizzen oder Karten dargestellt werden. An einem Beispiel, der Verarbeitung von Entfernungswissen, werden diese beiden Repräsentationsalternativen vorgestellt und die Besonderheiten intrinsischer oder analoger Formalismen, von denen bildhafte Repräsentationen einen Spezialfall darstellen, herausgearbeitet. Die Vor- und Nachteile von logischen versus bildhaften Repräsentationen werden untersucht im Hinblick darauf, wie die beiden Formalismen Informationen verarbeiten und welche Eigenschaften die Formalismen selbst haben. Abschließend werden hybride, d.h. kombinierte, Repräsentationen vorgestellt, welche die Vorteile beider Formalismen verbinden können
