Abstract

»Ich weiß, dass ich nichts weiß«, sagte der griechische Philosoph Sokrates. Heute, über 2 400 Jahre später, ist das Wissen der Menschheit fast grenzenlos, und täglich kommen unzählige neue Daten und Fakten hinzu. Das Fischen in dieser Informationsflut ist deshalb meist mühsam und zeitintensiv, die Qualität des Fangs oft unsicher. Dies gilt besonders für das Internet. »bibnetz« (www.bibnetz.de) ist die Lösung.

"Das Bibliotheksservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg (BSZ) bietet mit den Portalen für Öffentliche Bibliotheken unter dem Namen »bibnetz« einen schnellen und einfachen Zugang zu einem umfassenden Informationsangebot für die Bibliotheksbenutzer. Welche Vorteile bietet bibnetz? - bibnetz liefert schnelle und qualifizierte Suchergebnisse aus einer Vielzahl von Datenbanken, die parallel und mit nur einer einzigen Suchmaske durchsucht werden. - Medien-Recherche: Zugriff auf Bestandskataloge lokaler, regionaler und nationaler Bibliotheken mit direkter OnlineBestellmöglichkeit. - Faktensuche: Parallele Suche (so genannte »Metasuche«) in ausgewählten Datenbanken wie zum Beispiel wissen. de und wikipedia. de. - Fachrecherche: Zugang zu speziellen Datenbanken, zum Beispiel aus den Bereichen Personen, Geografie, Sport, Recht, Wirtschaft und Kultur. Wie funktioniert bibnetz? - Suche starten: Die bibnetz-Suchmaske bietet zwei Suchvarianten: die »einfache Suche« mit Suchbegriffen in Form von Stichwörtern, und die »Profi-Suche« für die Eingabe genauerer Suchkriterien, zum Beispiel bei Medienrecherchen den Autorennamen, den Titel, das Erscheinungsjahr oder die ISBN. Dann kann der Nutzer in der angezeigten Liste die Datenbanken aussuchen, in denen die Suche ausgeführt werden soll. - Suchergebnis auf einen Blick: Das Suchergebnis wird nach Datenbanken sortiert angezeigt und liefert bereits erste Kurzinformationen zu den Treffern. Nähere Details gibt es durch einen Klick auf den gewünschten Treffer. Der Button »Quelle« führt direkt zur jeweiligen Datenbank. Die Suchergebnisse können als Merkliste bearbeitet, gespeichert, ausgedruckt oder per Mail verschickt werden."
