Abstract

In der Datenbank Jiddische Drucke, die knapp 80o Titel umfasst, wird die jiddische Literatur kostenlos im Internet bereitgestellt. Die zum Teil sehr seltenen und bedeutenden Werke wurden von der Mitte des 16. bis zum Beginn des 20. Jh. auf Jiddisch und Judendeutsch in West-, Mittel und Osteuropa gedruckt. In der Sammlung finden sich jiddische Übersetzungen des Alten Testamentes, zahlreiche Weiberbibeln (Tsene-Rene) und Techines, Minhagim- und Ma'asebücher, praktische Ratgeber zu Erziehung und Gesundheit, Sachbücher zur Mathematik und den Wissenschaften, Chroniken sowie jiddische Übersetzungen weltliterarischer Stoffe. Die Werke der Begründer der jiddischen Belletristik des 19. und frühen 20. Jh. - Mendele Mojcher Sforim, Scholem Alejchem, Yitzhak Leib Peretz und Shalom Ash - sind ebenfalls vollständig enthalten.
