Abstract

Webangebote wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken werden häufig nur eingeschränkt, erfolglos oder mit großen Schwierigkeiten genutzt. Im Verlauf eines zweijährigen, von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft finanzierten Projektes an der Universität Gießen konnten detaillierte empirische Erkenntnisse über Nutzeraktivitäten, Nutzerstrategien und -probleme ermittelt werden, die sich in eine Typologie von Problemen und Problemursachen sowie einen Empfehlungskatalog für nutzerfreundliche Webangebote umsetzen ließen. In Teilbereichen haben diese Ergebnisse bereits Eingang in die Neugestaltung der Webseiten des Bibliothekssystems der Universität Gießen gefunden.
