Abstract
Reizvoll, aber nicht ohne Frustrationsgefahr ist der Versuch, das 'Internet' zu definieren, ein weltweites Telekommunikations-Netzwerk. 'Vor allem Inter', sagen Spötter und sehen Internet als Medium zwischen über 10.000 lokalen Netzwerken mit über 1,5 Millionen Rechnern, zwischen ungezählten Menschen und zwischen zahllosen Mehrwertdienstangeboten. Vorwiegend genutzt zur Datei- und Softwareübertragung, für elektronische Diskussionsrunden und für elektronische Post (e-mail), beginnt Internet nun auch für die Online-Welt interessant zu werden. Universitätsbibliotheken bieten ihre Kataloge, Hosts ihre Datenbanken über Internet an, Verlage nutzen es zum Electronic Publishing
