Abstract

Describes the NOTIS open system package consisting of PACLink/PACSearch/PACLoan. Because PACLink software is built on an open system protocol, NOTIS libraries are able to connect with any other institution that compiles with the protocol. Discusses automated processing of interloan request, the circulation module interface and interconnection. Compares this with the Kent State University libraries system. Patrons may access the Internet through designated terminals. The catalogues of 15 libraries are available with a minimum of data input. Explains the OhioLINK computer network at the university of Cincinnati. OhioLINK is predicted to become one of the largest statewide library and information networks in the US
