Abstract

Die Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND) ist aus dem Bibliothekswesen nicht mehr wegzudenken und wird künftig verstärkt auch in anderen Einrichtungen aus Kultur und Wissenschaft zum Einsatz kommen. Von entscheidender Bedeutung für ihre Weiterentwicklung ist die kooperative Redaktionstätigkeit der im deutschsprachigen Raum tätigen Verbundpartner*innen, die im vorliegenden Beitrag näher vorgestellt wird. Nach einem kurzen historischen Überblick werden die Schwerpunkte und Besonderheiten der gegenwärtigen Terminologiearbeit anhand von Beispielen veranschaulicht. Im Anschluss daran wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie die Redaktionsarbeit an der GND an zukünftige Herausforderungen (z. B. den zunehmenden Einsatz maschineller Erschließung und die Vernetzung mit anderen Vokabularen) angepasst werden kann.

Abstract

CrissCross ist der Name eines von der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek und der Fachhochschule Köln gemeinsam betriebenen und von der DFG geförderten Projekts, dessen Ziel es ist, durch die Verbindung von klassifikatorischen und verbalen Erschließungsinstrumenten ein benutzergerechtes Recherchevokabular zu schaffen, um die Suche in heterogen erschlossenen Bibliotheksbeständen zu erleichtern. Im Rahmen des Projektes werden die Sachschlagwörter der Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) mit den Notationen der Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation (DDC) verbunden. Auf diese Weise entsteht ein dichtes Beziehungsnetz zwischen der weltweit verbreitetsten Klassifikation und der im deutschen Sprachgebiet dominierenden Dokumentationssprache. Der Vortrag gibt einen Überblick über die Vorgehensweise bei der Verknüpfung von DDC-Klassen und SWD-Sachschlagwörtern und zeigt Pespektiven auf, die sich aus der Vernetzung ergeben.

Abstract

Within the multilingual framework of the CrissCross project, MACS (Multilingual Access to Subjects) has continued its work. MACS has developed a prototype of mappings between three vocabularies: the LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings), RAMEAU (Répertoire d'autorité-matière encyclopédique et alphabétique unifié) and the SWD (Schlagwortnormdatei). A database with a Link Management System (LMI), which allows for an easy linking between English, French and German subject headings, was created. The database started working with headings from the disciplines sports and theatre, but by now headings from all other fields of knowledge have been included as well. In 2008-2010, equivalencies between English and French headings which had been produced by the Bibliothèque nationale de France have been completed with the most important German SWD topical terms. Thus, more than 50.000 trilingual links are now available and can be used in different retrieval scenarios. It is planned to use them in The European Library (TEL) in order to support multilingual searches over all European National Library collections. The article informs about the project workflow, methodology of mapping and future applications of MACS links.
