    Abstract
    Account of the enquiries addressed to a beginner at the central information desk of Oldenburg University library. The desk is placed were it is easily disturbed, especially by the telephone. For the more complex enquiries the librarian needs to question the user in order to formulate a specific query for searching. Librarians must choose whether to indicate the reference tools to the user or to find the information themselves. Hindrances are queues, lack of confidence in users, inexacteness of request.

    Der Artikel enthält eine kritische Sicht des Fachinformationsprogramms 1985-1988 der Bundesregierung, ein halbes Jahr nach seiner Veröffentlichung. Das Programm ist nur beschränkt ein Programm.     Abstract
    Nicht nur das traditionelle bibliothekarische Auskunftsinterview, sondern auch die Befragung bzw. Beratung, die im Zusammenhang mit der bibliothekarischen Dienstleistung des Online Information Retrieval zwischen Rechercheur und Endbenutzer abläuft, ist in der Literatur vielfach praxisbezogener, aber auch theoretischer Abhandlungen. Der gesamte Interviewprozeß läßt sich in 4 Phasen gliedern, deren zweite, das der Recherche vorausgehende 'Presearch-Interview' im engeren Sinn, für das Gelingen der Online-Suche besonders wichtig ist. Die dabei inhaltlich und formal wesentlichen Aspekte können in Form praktischer Gebrauchsanweisungen aufgelistet werden. Weiter sind Interview-Stil und -Verhalten von Bedeutung; auftretende Kommunikationsbarrieren können durch Einsatz nichtverbaler Kommunikationstechniken und einfühlsames Beraterverhalten überwunden werden. Eine neue Variante des Auskunftsinterviews ist das sog. 'Presearch-Counseling', das bei der Beratung von Bibliotheksbenutzern, die endbenutzergerechte Online-Retrievalsysteme verwenden, erforderlich sind

    Abstract
    In 1988 a pilot project was carried out in Baden Würtemberg to make people more familiar with the new technology. In Böblingen public library readers could reserve for an hour a room containing a television screen and laser printer, to help them to learn about construction and use of media. Similar facilities were available in Friedrichshafen and Heidelberg. There was no restriction on target groups. User training is important; the main problem is software selection. Textual aids were provided. The more advanced readers can do programming exercises in a special programming language.
