- Abstract
- Die Wissensoziologie fußt auf einer radikalen Soziologisierung des Wissens: Daß Vergesellschaftung sich im Medium des Wissens vollzieht und alles Wissen standortgebunden ist, haben Autoren wie Scheler und Mannheim Ende der 20er Jahre eingeführt. Die Beziehungen zwischen Wissen und Gesellschaft werden seither im Hinblick auch die Produktion, Zirkulation und Rezeption von Denkstilen und Wissensbeständen untersucht. Wichtige Weiterentwicklungen finden sich in der (post-)strukturalistischen Diskursanalyse, der systemtheoretischen Semantikanalyse, dem 'strong programme' und der Sozialphänomenologie der Lebenswelt. Das aktuelle Forschungsthema 'Wissensgesellschaft' zeigt eine zunehmend interdisziplinär orientierte Wissensoziologie

- Rez.: "Neuerdings beschreibt sich die moderne Gesellschaft selbst als "Wissensgesellschaft". Wissen wird als zentrale Ressource begriffen. Vor diesem Hintergrund konstatiert Sabine Maasen in ihrem Buch "Wissenssoziologie", das in der Reihe "Einsichten. Soziologische Themen" im Transcript-Verlag erschienen ist, eine neue Aufgabe für die etwas aus der Mode gekommene Wissenssoziologie. Die Vielfalt der soziologischen Problematisierungsmöglichkeiten von Wissen zeigt die Autorin dabei anhand eines theoriegeschichtlichen Abrisses von der Tradition der Ideologiekritik bis zu den Wissenstheorien eines Foucault oder eines Luhmann. Die große Leistung dieses Buches besteht aber vor allem in der Skizzierung der Aufgabe, diese wissenssoziologischen Konzepte für den aktuellen Diskurs über die "Wissensgesellschaft" fruchtbar zu machen, der bislang gerade unter einem soziologisch defizitären Wissensbegriff leidet. Insgesamt eröffnet der Band sowohl ideengeschichtliche Perspektiven auf die Wissenssoziologie als auch systematische Perspektiven auf die "Wissensgesellschaft". - Abstract
- Die Untersuchung will Aufschluß darüber geben, wie sich die Konstruktionen von Wirklichkeit in ausgesuchten Werbetexten aus den Jahren 1960-1990 in Deutschland gewandelt haben. Hierzu werden aus jedem Jahr dieses Zeitraumes je 2 Werbeanzeigen von insgesamt 6 deutschen Markenfirmen in einem Korpus versammelt. In der Analyse wird das Korpus dann - computergestützt - sowohl quantitativ wir auch qualitativ untersucht. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, welche Wnadlungen sich in unterschiedlichen Segmenten des Weltbildes der Deutschen vollzogen haben

- Internet, WWW, Online, Surfen - eine Flut dieser und ähnlicher Begriffe hat sich in den letzten Jahren über die Medien verbreitet. Kryptische Wortkürzel wir http:// dürfen scheinbar in keinem Werbespot mehr fehlen. Das Wort von der Internet-Euphorie macht die Runde. Doch was hat es damit eigentlich auf sich? Was sind die Hintergründe dieses Spektakels? Ist das WWW wirklich der Vorreiter der globalen Kommunikation, als der es vielfach gepriesen wird? Der folgende Artikel versucht, eine Diskussionsgrundlage für die genannten Fragen bereitzustellen. - Abstract
- Die Techniken für eine computer- und Netzbasierte Bildung entwickeln sich stetig fort. Lernende und Lehrer müssen nicht mehr gleichzeitig an einem Ort anwesend sein, um den Unterricht abzuhalten. Bereits jetzt erprobt die FU Hagen den Prototyp einer virtuellen Universität, in der zur Zeit 2.500 Studenten über PC, ISDN und Internet miteinander und mit der Hochschule kommunizieren. Kritiker fürchten indes, daß mit multimedialen Techniken die Grundlagen unserer Kultur verschoben werden und neue Konflikte entstehen

- Abstract
- Die amerikanische Philosophie boomt. Seit die postmodernen Theorien aus Frankreich in die Jahre gekommen sind, wendet sich der Blick über den Atlantik. Dort tritt ein weniger artistischer Blick auf die Realität an die Stelle dekonstruktiver Akrobatik. Impulse der europäischen Philosophie erfahren eine produktive Wendung, ein neuartiges transatlantisches Denken bildet sich heraus. Insbesondere die amerikanischen Kommunitaristen und liberale Ironiker wie Richard Rorty verschaffen dem Denken wieder Bodenhaftung. Dieser Band versammelt prägnante Kurzporträts der wichtigsten Denker und gibt Einblick in die angelsächsische Philosophie, deren analytische Grundierung lange Zeit ein Hindernis für ihre Rezeption im deutschsprachigen Raum war. Dies ist der dritte Band von »Profile der Gegenwartsphilosophie«, der sich mit dem angelsächsischen Denken befaßt. Wir stellen darin Autoren vor, die bis in unsere Zeit hinein ihre Wirkung entfalten und die aktuelle philosophische Diskussion entscheidend prägen. Karl R. Popper sowie Paul Feyerabend sind gebürtige Wiener, lebten und lehrten jedoch die meiste Zeit in England und Amerika. Darüber hinaus gehören sie mit ihrem Denken in die - im Falle Feyerabends freilich kritisch-zersetzenden - Argumentationszusammenhänge der analytischen Philosophie, die zwar im deutschsprachigen Raum ihren Ausgang nahm, jedoch im angelsächsischen Sprachraum zu ihrer Entfaltung kam. Stephen Hawking ist Physiker, begibt sich aber mit seiner Kosmologie in einen Raum wissenschaftlicher Spekulation, der ebensogut zu mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen wie auch zu philosophischen Fragestellungen Anlaß gibt. Die Grundlage für viele dieser philosophischen Profile bilden Rundfunkfeatures, die wir für das Deutschlandradio Köln geschrieben haben und die dort ausgestrahlt worden sind. Insofern gilt unser besonderer Dank Hildegard Krei, die mit ihrem Interesse an unseren Features auch das Zustandekommen dieses Bandes unterstützte.

- Abstract
- Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914), der Begründer des Pragmatismus und der modernen Zeichentheorie (Semiotik), ist der bedeutendste Philosoph, den Amerika hervorgebracht hat. Erst seit den sechziger Jahren wird er auch in Deutschland mit zunehmender Intensität rezipiert. Seine Philosophie der Zeichen und des Handelns vermittelt der Ethik des Pragmatismus weltweit neue Impulse, die nach dem Zusammenbruch der Ideologien von besonderer Aktualität sind. Klaus Oehler, der sich in zahlreichen Publikationen mit Werk und Wirkung von Peirce beschäftigt hat, legt hier eine umfassende Einführung vor, die sich dem Leben von Peirce ebenso eingehend widmet wie seiner Auseinandersetzung mit Kant, seiner Erkenntnistheorie, seinem Begriff der Realität, seiner Zeichentheorie, Ästhetik, Ethik und Religionsphilosphie sowie seinem Entwurf einer evolutionären Kosmologie. Eine allgemeinverständliche Darstellung von Leben und Werk des bedeutendsten amerikanischen Philosophen und Begründers des Pragmatismus Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914). Der 1. Teil beschreibt seinen Lebensweg und seine intellektuelle Entwicklung. Der 2. Teil stellt seine philosophischen Grundgedanken zusammenfassend dar: seine neue Kategorienlehre, seine semiotische Erkenntnistheorie, seine pragmatische Wissenschaftstheorie, seine evolutionäre Kosmologie und seine allgemeine Zeichentheorie. - Abstract
- Nahezu unbeachtet in der gesamten bibliothekswissenschaftlichen Literatur blieb bislang ein Arbeitsschritt der Inhaltserschließung, obgleich er ihren Ausgangspunkt bildet und damit von grundlegender Bedeutung ist: die Analyse des Inhalts von Dokumenten. Klare Aussagen über den Inhalt und die Beschaffenheit eines Dokuments auf der Basis fundierter Kriterien treffen zu können, ist das Anliegen von Langridges, nunmehr erstmalig in deutscher Übersetzung vorliegendem Werk. Gestützt auf ein Fundament philosophisch abgeleiteter Wissensformen, zeigt Langridge anhand einer Vielzahl konkreter Beispiele Wege - aber auch Irrwege- auf, sich dem Inhalt von Dokumenten zu nähern und zu Resultaten zu gelangen, die dank objektiver Kriterien überprüfbar werden.
