    Abstract
    Das World Wide Web ist als weltweites Informations- und Kommunikationsmedium etabliert. Neue Technologien erweitern regelmäßig die Nutzungsformen und erlauben es auch unerfahrenen Nutzern, Inhalte zu publizieren oder an Diskussionen teilzunehmen. Daher wird das Web auch als eine gute Dokumentation der heutigen Gesellschaft angesehen. Aufgrund seiner Dynamik sind die Inhalte des Web vergänglich und neue Technologien und Nutzungsformen stellen regelmäßig neue Herausforderungen an die Sammlung von Webinhalten für die Webarchivierung. Dominierten in den Anfangstagen der Webarchivierung noch statische Seiten, so hat man es heute häufig mit dynamisch generierten Inhalten zu tun, die Informationen aus verschiedenen Quellen integrieren. Neben dem klassischen domainorientieren Webharvesting kann auch ein steigendes Interesse aus verschiedenen Forschungsdisziplinen an thematischen Webkollektionen und deren Nutzung und Exploration beobachtet werden. In diesem Artikel werden einige Herausforderungen und Lösungsansätze für die Sammlung von thematischen und dynamischen Inhalten aus dem Web und den sozialen Medien vorgestellt. Des Weiteren werden aktuelle Probleme der wissenschaftlichen Nutzung diskutiert und gezeigt, wie Webarchive und andere temporale Kollektionen besser durchsucht werden können.

    Abstract
    Das Buch gibt eine umfassende Darstellung der Möglichkeiten und Probleme des elektronischen Publizierens in der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation. Ausgehend von der gegenwärtigen Situation wird die Notwendigkeit neuer elektronischer Publikationsformen dargelegt.     Abstract
    Ein Problem der Erstellung von Multimediaanwendungen in Unternehmen ist, dass die Sachkompetenz bezüglich der darzustellenden Inhalte nicht immer bei denjenigen Mitarbeitern liegt, die die Kompetenz für die mediengerechte Aufbereitung haben. Um umfangreiche Hypertextanwendungen - ggf. auch mit interaktiven Aufgaben Lind Multimediaelernenten - zu erzeugen, können Sachautoren von dem Umgang mit Multimediasoftware weitgehend entlastet werden. Der von den Sachautoren verfasste Text ist dazu von vornherein mit minimalen Textauszeichnungen zu versehen. Dazu braucht er seine Textverarbeitung nicht zu verlassen. Um jetzt einen interaktiven Hypertext oder eine 1 lypermediaanwendung mit einzelnen Einträgen und zusätzlichen umfangreichen Navigationskomponenten zu erzeugen und weitere Medien an den jeweils richtigen Stellen einzufügen, ist ein Programm erforderlich, das die Anwendung erzeugen hilft (Engine). Zu den Themen "Hypertext" und "Multimedia" erscheinen etliche Publikationen. Eine Vielzahl von ihnen hat theoretische und konzeptionelle Aspekte zum Inhalt (z. B. Lobin 1999, Brusilovsky 1998, Rouet 1996). Manche betonen den Anwendungsbezug (Gerdes 1997, Hofinann/Simon 1995), der unter besonderer Berücksichtigung für Information oder Ausbildung gesehen werden kann (vgl. Glowalla 1992). Andere sind von historischem Interesse (Nelson 1992), klären die Begrifflichkeit und die Grundlagen (Schnupp 1992, Kuhlen 1991, Seyer 1991, Nielsen 1990, Hashim 1990) oder geben Hinweise auf die Benutzung (MacGrew 1989). Ferner gibt es programmspezifische Literatur, die die technische Handhabung bei der Erstellung unterstützt. Solche Literatur kann genutzt werden, um Aspekte zu gewinnen, die für die Anlage und Ausrichtung einer Hypertextanwendung sinnvoll sind. Werden hingegen existierende Hypertextanwendungen betrachtet, so bleibt der damit verbundene Aufwand und die Organisationsstruktur oft im Dunkeln

    Abstract
    Die Digitalisierung der Medien verändert auch das wissenschaftliche Publizieren. Bislang galt: Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse werden in Form von Publikationen auf Papier mitgeteilt. Diese Veröffentlichungen - zumeist Aufsätze in entsprechenden Fachzeitschriften - stellen quasi die öffentliche Verkündung der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse dar. Diese klassische Wissensordnung hat ihren Ursprung in der Gelehrtenrepublik des 19. Jahrhunderts und hat sich in der Forschungsgemeinschaft des 20. Jahrhunderts fortgeschrieben. Konstitutiv für diese akade mische Wissenschaftsverfassung Humboldt'scher Prägung ist in etwa das, was der amerikanische Soziologe Robert Merton mit »Wissenskommunismus« der Wissenschaften meinte: Die Belohnung für Erkenntnisse erfolge nicht in Geld, sondern in der Reputation (vgl. Grassmuck 2002). Nur wer es möglichst oft in die angesehenen Journale schafft, verfügt über entsprechendes Renommee und kann weiter veröffentlichen. Wissenschaftler sagen auch: »Publish or perish« - veröffentliche oder verende. Entsprechend sind Autoren darauf angewiesen, von den internationalen Wissenschaftsverlagen akzeptiert und veröffentlicht zu werden. »Global Player« wie Reed Elsevier, Wiley oder Springer publizieren jährlich Zehntausende von Fachzeitschriften und organisieren so über ihre Vertriebsstrukturen und zu ihren Bedingungen die Verbreitung von Wissen. Diese Macht der Verlage gründet sich vor allem auf ihr Publikationsmonopol in den jeweiligen Spezialdisziplinen.

    Abstract
    Informationsangebote im Internet sind immer häufiger nicht nur Referenzinformationen, sondern Textinformationen. Somit ist es die von den Interessenten gewünschte Information selbst, die als Textpublikation oder als Ausschnitt aus einer solchen Publikation mit den entsprechenden Retrieval- und Anzeigeinstrumenten direkt bereitgestellt wird. Diese Texte haben ganz unterschiedliche Entstehungszusammenhänge.     Abstract
    Zentrale Erwerbung von wissenschaftlichen Informationsressourcen im Netz der virtuellen Hybridbibliothek der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft »Excellent Information Services for Excellent Research« ist das Motto der Anfang 2007 gegründeten Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL). Diese ambitionierte Leitlinie würdigt die Relevanz eines modernen wissenschaftlichen Informationsmanagements für eine exzellente Spitzenforschung. Mit Gründung der MPDL wurde in der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) ein entscheidender Schritt zur zentralen Unterstützung eines bisher weitgehend dezentralen Informationsversorgungsnetzes gegangen. Die Entscheidung zu einer Kombination aus zentraler und dezentraler Informationsversorgung trägt den Veränderungen Rechnung, die sich durch die Möglichkeiten der digitalen Welt ergeben haben. Intention der Neugründung ist jedoch nicht, ein unter der Prämisse der Institutsautonomie etabliertes, wohl durchdachtes Literatur- und Informationsversorgungssystem sukzessive durch eine zentrale Einheit abzulösen, sondern gemäß der Maxime der Subsidiarität Stärken von dezentralen und von zentralen Einheiten zu einem effizienten Gesamtsystem zu ergänzen. Der vorliegende Artikel skizziert das Netz der Informationsversorgung in der MPG mit dem Schwerpunkt auf der Versorgung mit elektronischen Medien des institutsübergreifenden Bedarfs. Dieser Schwerpunkt kennzeichnet eines der Hauptarbeitsfelder der MPDL, deren weitere Services und Arbeitsfelder kontextgebunden und ausgewählt vorgestellt werden sollen?

    Abstract
    Im Gesamtrahmen wissenschaftlicher Kommunikationsprozesse nimmt die Literatur eine besondere Stellung ein - was die Kommunikation zwischen Wissenschaftlern angeht, aber auch, was die Nutzbarmachung wissenschaftlicher Ergebnisse für die Gesellschaft angeht. Das Arbeiten mit Literatur (einschließlich Suchen, Beschaffen, Lesen, Auswerten und Schreiben) ist für den Wissenschaftler alltäglich, und es beansprucht einen wesentlichen Teil seiner Arbeitszeit. Genauere Kenntnisse dieser Tätigkeiten können eine wichtige Grundlage für die Gestaltung des Angebots von Bibliotheken und anderen Informationseinrichtungen darstellen. Aber: »The actual process of utilizing scientific literature is one of the less well understood phases of scientific communication.« - Diese Feststellung bezog Krishna Subramanyam in seinem enzyklopädischen Beitrag über die naturwissenschaftliche Literatur auf die vielfältigen Tätigkeiten des Naturwissenschaftlers im Hinblick auf Suche, Beschaffung und Verwendung der fachlich relevanten Literatur. Seitdem ist manches intensiver untersucht worden, gerade was die Rolle von Bibliotheken angeht.     Abstract
    Mathematische Texte weisen eine Reihe von Besonderheiten auf. In dem folgenden Beitrag wird diskutiert, welche Probleme bzw. neuen Möglichkeiten sich daraus für die Publikation im Internet ergeben.     Abstract
    Mit dem »ABC der Menschheit« wurde 2007 erstmals eines der vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung ausgerichteten Wissenschaftsjahre den Geisteswissenschaften gewidmet. Dies hat die geisteswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen für kurze Zeit ins Licht der Öffentlichkeit rücken lassen. Ob sie sich dort werden behaupten können wird unter anderem davon abhängen, inwieweit die ihnen zuteil gewordene Aufmerksamkeit sich auch in finanzieller Hinsicht, das heißt in einer stärkeren Unterstützung durch Förderorganisationen, auswirken wird. Die zukünftige Präsenz der Geisteswissenschaften in der Wissenschaftslandschaft wird aber auch davon abhängen, ob es ihnen gelingt, informationstechnologische Entwicklungen aufzugreifen und sich zunutze zu machen. Anja Beddies hat sich in ihrer Diplomarbeit mit digitalen Forschungsbibliotheken in den Geisteswissenschaften auseinandergesetzt und stellt hier ihre Ergebnisse vor.

    Abstract
    Die Sammlung und Archivierung von Websites hat sich seit Ende der 1990er-Jahre in einer Reihe von kulturbewahrenden Einrichtungen weltweit zu einem neuen Tätigkeitsfeld entwickelt. Einleitend wird zunächst die grundsätzliche Notwendigkeit der Webarchivierung erläutert, bevor die wichtigsten Grundlagen und Herausforderungen der Thematik kurz beschrieben werden. Eine Bestandsaufnahme beleuchtet die bisherigen Aktivitäten in ausgewählten deutschen Bibliotheken: Baden-Württembergisches Online-Archiv (BOA), SaarDok und edoweb sowie die Webarchivierung an der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek und der SUB Hamburg. Daneben werden auch einige Projekte im wissenschaftlichen Bereich beschrieben. Abschließend wird der aktuelle Stand der Webarchivierung in deutschen Bibliotheken zusammengefasst und es werden mögliche Entwicklungsszenarien aufgezeigt.
