    Das Image pflegen oder aufbauen, Experimente machen und Erfahrungen sammeln, die Leser-Blatt-Bindung fördern und das Printprodukt stärken, den Anschluß an den Wettbewerb halten und die Weichen zum modernen Medienkonzern stellen, ein lukratives Nebengeschäft machen oder bloße 'Abfallverwertung' betreiebn, den Fuß in der Tür oder schon über die Schwelle - die Gründe der zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenverleger, sich im wieder einmal neuen Geschäftsfeld des Elektronischen Publizierens in seinen diversen Spielarten zu betätigen, sind vielfältig.     Abstract
    In Desktop und Internet werden weiterhin große Chancen einer kostengünstigen und nachhaltigen Optimierung der elektronischen Fachinformation gesehen. Gründe dafür sind die vergleichsweise einfach handzuhabenden Produktionswerkzeuge, die rasche Distribution über das Internet und der grundsätzlich orts- und zeitunabhängige Ressourcenzugang für jedermann. Die Vision einer allumfassenden Ressourcenverfügbarkeit im Sinne der Informationsfreiheit scheint die neue Technologie in greifbare Nähe gerückt zu haben. Dieser aus rein technischer Sicht bestehenden Möglichkeit stellen sich zwei Faktoren entgegen, die das wissenschaftliche Publizieren seit langem bestimmen; dies sind Maßnahmen zur Qualitätssicherung, zu denen insbesondere das PeerReviewing gehört, sowie urheber- und verbreitungsrechtliche Schutzmaßnahmen, die die Lizenzierungspraxis für den Zugriff auf elektronische Informationsressourcen begründen. Insofern steht die auf den technischen Möglichkeiten beruhende Option einer ungehinderten Ressourcenzugänglichkeit den Einschränkungen des urheber- und verbreitungsrechtlichen Schutzes (einschließlich der Kostendeckung für die Herstellung qualitätsgesicherter Information) gegenüber. Welche Beeinträchtigungen sich daraus für die Nutzung kostenpflichtig lizenzierter Fachinformation ergeben können, wird an der aktuellen Debatte um die Urheberrechtsnovellierung in besonderer Weise deutlich.

    Abstract
    Mit dem Paradigmenwechsel, der für Bibliotheken durch die verstärkte Nutzung elektronischer Medien eingesetzt hat, verlieren sie zunehmend die Möglichkeit, ihrer Aufgabe nachzukommen, das kulturelle und wissenschaftliche Erbe zu archivieren und ihren Nutzern zur Verfügung zu stellen. Im Mittelpunkt des Sammelns steht in Zukunft der Text jeglicher Form anstelle des Mediums Buch. Das bedingt neue Wege der Erwerbung, der Bewahrung und des Umgangs mit Texten. Die Voraussetzungen dafür, dass jede Bibliothek, die einen Sammel- und Archivauftrag erfüllt, elektronische Texte speichern und auf zeitgemäße Weise in ihrem Katalog nachweisen kann, sind jedoch noch nicht gegeben. Das Schaffen dieser rechtlichen, technischen und organisatorischen Voraussetzungen ist unbedingt notwendig, damit Bibliotheken weiterhin effektiv Wissenschaft und Forschung unterstützen und befördern können.

    Abstract
    Der so genannte grüne Weg ist die am einfachsten zu realisierende Spielart von Open Access. Auch unter dem Begriff Self Archiving bekannt, bezeichnet er das zusätzliche Veröffentlichen wissenschaftlicher Publikationen auf eigens dazu eingerichteten Repositories durch die Autoren als Pre- oder Postprint und ergänzt damit formalisierte Publikationsformen wie wissenschaftliche Zeitschriften. Der Artikel vergleicht die unterschiedlichen Formen des grünen Weges miteinander - vor allem institutionelle und fachspezifische Repositories-, umreißt die aktuelle Situation insbesondere in Deutschland und diskutiert deren Vorzüge, Nachteile und Entwicklungspotenziale aus Sicht von Autoren, Nutzern und Betreibern.

    Abstract
    Das slnfo Programm der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft hat das Ziel, die Effektivität ihrer Wissenschaftler und Institute durch konsequente Nutzung der neuen technischen Möglichkeiten (Internet, Digitalisierung, Kommunikation, Open Access) wesentlich zu verbessern. Es adressiert viele Facetten der wissenschaftlichen Arbeit: Informationsgewinnung, Aufbereitung und Auswertung, Informationsverbreitung und Speicherung, wissenschaftliche Arbeit im Labor und am Schreibtisch, wissenschaftliche Arbeit als einzelner und in der Gruppe. Das BMBF geförderte eSciDoc Projekt ist ein wichtiger Baustein von slnfo und wird am Beispiel der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft eine nachhaltige Infrastruktur zur wissenschaftlichen Information, Kommunikation und Verbreitung von Forschungsergebnissen via Open Access aufbauen. Die entwickelten Komponenten werden als nachnutzbare Lösungen interessierten Communities angeboten, um diese in die Lage zu versetzen, ebenfalls Bausteine zum entstehenden Netz des Wissens beizusteuern und weitere community-spezifische Dienste auf Basis der Infrastruktur zu entwickeln. Durch die strategische Partnerschaft zwischen der MPG und FIZ Karlsruhe kann die Nachhaltigkeit der entwickelten Lösungen sichergestellt werden und die Nachnutzbarkeit durch andere, insbesondere deutsche, Institutionen ebenfalls gewährleistet werden. Entsprechende Vereinbarungen wurden im Rahmen eines Kooperationsvertrags getroffen. FIZ Karlsruhe verfolgt das Ziel, sich als Partner wissenschaftlicher Einrichtungen zum Aufbau und Betrieb von Informations-, Publikations- und Kommunikationsplattformen zu etablieren und damit eine zentrale Rolle in der gesamten Wissenschaftsinfrastruktur in Deutschland zu übernehmen. Das eSciDoc-Projekt ist bei beiden Partnern Teil einer größeren Strategie. Dementsprechend bringen beide Partner erhebliche Eigenmittel ein, die ganz wesentlich zum Erfolg des Projekts beitragen werden.

    Abstract
    Wissenstransfer erweist sich für Hochschulen und Universitäten als Schlüsselfaktor und steht in unmittelbarem Zusammenhang mit der wissenschaftlichen Informationsversorgung. Die traditionelle (papiergebundene) Publikationspraxis kann die digitale Wissensversorgung erheblich beeinträchtigen, weil sie auf einer Wertschöpfungskette beruht, der Produktionsverfahren für gedruckte Publikationen zugrunde liegen. Dies hat eine Rollenverteilung in der Wertschöpfungskette zur Folge, durch die Autoren ihre Verbreitungs- und Verwertungsrechte (als Bestandteile ihres Urheberrechts) an Verlage abtreten, die den Herstellungs- und Verbreitungsprozess für Monographien und Zeitschriften übernehmen und damit das wirtschaftliche Risiko für den Verkauf dieser Produkte tragen. Mit dieser Rollenverteilung verbinden sich vor allem dann gute Voraussetzungen für Gewinn- und Umsatzmaximierung durch Preissteigerungen, wenn das Produktport-folio einen marktbeherrschenden Monopolcharakter hat. Insbesondere bei Zeitschriften der naturwissenschaftlichen, technologieorientierten und medizinischen Fachgebiete hat sich diese Entwicklung seit langem eingestellt. Die Folge ist ein - aufgrund hoher Abonnementkosten - eingeschränkter Zugang sowie ein fast ausschließlich kommerziell getriebenes Distributions- und Marktverhalten.

    Abstract
    Schattenbibliotheken wie Sci-Hub bieten Zugriff auf wissenschaftliche Volltexte aus allen akademischen Disziplinen. Sie agieren rechtswidrig, indem sie die Bezahlschranken der Verlage umgehen und Dokumente in ihren eigenen Datenbanken speichern. Sie können als eine der Auswirkungen auf die Zeitschriftenkrise der letzten Jahrzehnte verstanden werden. Im Rahmen meiner Bachelorarbeit habe ich mich intensiv mit diesem noch relativ jungen Phänomen auseinandergesetzt. Bibliotheken sind als Bindeglied zwischen den Wissenschaftsverlagen und ihren eigenen Nutzern direkt von Schattenbibliotheken betroffen. Während sie auf der einen Seite von einer besseren Verhandlungsposition gegenüber Verlagen profitieren könnten, müssen sie auf der anderen Seite mit den illegalen Datenbanken konkurrieren. Wie kann diese Gradwanderung gelingen?
