Der Informationsbegriff ist in aller Munde. Fast jeder gebraucht ihn intuitiv. - Abstract
- Durch die 'Datenautobahnen' ist die 'Informationsgesellschaft' in aller Munde. Das vorliegende Buch sammelt Beiträge, die seit mehr als 10 Jahren versuchen, die 'Informationsgesellschaft' von verschiedenen Aspekten aus zu betrachten. Dabei sind die neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien nur eine Komponente, die zwar einerseits zu Visionen und strategischen Hoffnungen berechtigen, andererseits auch Risiken und Unvollkommenheiten aufweisen. Die 'Informationsgesellschaft' bildet sich daher weniger als eine informationstechnische Gesellschaft heraus, sondern als eine Gesellschaft, in der Überforderungen der Menschen und Komplexitätszuwächse neue Hilfsmittel der Komplexitätsreduktion und Konzeptionen der Selbstentwicklung erfordern. Den Instanzen von Kulturbewahrung und Kulturstiftung fallen dabei neue Aufgaben der Behandlung und Bereitstellung von Wissen zu. In dieser Situation ist auch Wissenschaft neu gefordert: Es zeichnet sich eine handlungsorientierte, pragmatische neue Wissenschaftlichkeit ab, für die Informationswissenschaft ein Prototyp sein könnte. Die postmoderne Wissensverwendung wird eine Hauptaufgabe der Informationsgesellschaft werden. - Abstract
- Dieser amerikanische Klassiker zum Einstieg in die unterschiedlichen theoretischen Ansätze der Entwicklungspsychologie hat sich einen festen Platz auf dem deutschen Markt erobert - als Ergänzungs- und Übersichtslektüre für Haupt- und Nebenfachstudenten in Psychologie und Pädagogik. Viele Fakten lassen sich erst vor dem theoretischen Hintergrund richtig verstehen, einordnen und nachhaltig für die Prüfung lernen. Der verhaltenspsychologische Ansatz zum Beispiel verdeutlicht, warum die Mutter-Kind-Bindung von Geburt an vorprogrammiert ist und beide wechselseitig ihre Mimik und Gestik verstehen, ohne viel lernen zu müssen; ergänzend zeigt Gibsons Wahrnehmungstheorie, auf welche Gefahrsignale Säuglinge automatisch reagieren - ein Krabbelkind bekommt an einer Balkonkante oder einer natürlichen Klippe Angst und krabbelt nicht weiter; Piagets Theorie der kognitiven Entwicklungsstufen ordnet die Lernschritte, in denen zunächst Konzepte und Regeln erworben werden, bevor logisch operationales Denken reift - ein Grund, warum in der Grundschule Mengentheorie zum Einüben abstrakt-logischen Denkens nicht funktionieren kann. - Abstract
- Als "Technopol" bezeichnet Postman die Beherrschung einer Zivilisation durch Technik und technizistisches Denken, eine Entwicklung, die der New Yorker Medien-Prof. in den USA am weitesten fortgeschritten sieht. Die Folgen für Individuum und Gesellschaft illustriert er, wie immer in glänzender Diktion und mit sarkastischem Witz, u.a. an der Informationsschwemme, der Apparate-Medizin und der Computertechnologie. Das Schlusskapitel, immerhin, weckt ein Fünkchen Hoffnung auf möglichen Widerstand. Postmans neue Streitschrift (mit Anmerkungen, Bibliographie), thematisch an "Die Verweigerung der Hörigkeit" anknüpfend, reicht weder an die grossen Zeitdiagnosen eines G. Anders heran noch an J. Weizenbaums grundlegende Analyse der "Macht der Computer". Dennoch dürfen Postmans zeitgemässe Kassandrarufe inzwischen allgemeiner Aufmerksamkeit sicher sein.

- Abstract
- In ihrer mittlerweile klassisch gewordenen Arbeit haben Peter L. Berger und Thomas Luckmann die Wissenssoziologie auf eine neue Basis gestellt. Mit dem begrifflichen Instrumentarium von Philosophie, Anthropologie, Sozialpsychologie und Sprachwissenschaft gehen sie der Frage nach, durch welche Prozesse sich für die Mitglieder von Gesellschaften eine intersubjektiv geteilte, gemeinsame Wirklichkeit herausbildet: wie die Formen der Vermittlung zwischen der objektiven Wirklichkeit der Gesellschaft, die durch soziale Interaktionen hervorgebracht, institutionell verstetigt und in vielfältiger Weise tradiert wird, und die subjektiven Bildungsprozesse der beteiligten individuen zu verstehen sind.

- Abstract
- In diesem Buch werden die neuesten kenntnisse über die biologischen, evolutionsbiologischen und neurobiologischen Grundlagen von Wahrnehmung und Erkenntnisleistungen, von Bewußtsein und Geist dargestellt. Es wird diskutiert, wie und innerhalb welcher Grenzen mit den heutigen neurophysiologischen und bildgebenden Verfahren Bewußtsein und Geist 'sichtbar' gemacht werden können. Auf diesen Grundlagen aufbauend, wird im Sinne des Konstruktivismus ein philosophisch-erkenntnistheoretisches Konzept des menschlichen Erlenntnisvermögens entwickelt, das zugleich einen nichtreduktionistischen Physikalismus vertritt. Dieser nimmt im Gegensatz zu einem Dualismus die Einheitlichkeit der Natur auch für die Gehirn-Geist-Beziehung an, ohne zugleich Geist auf die Aktivität von Nervenzellen reduzieren zu wollen. Insbesondere wird auf die Frage nach der Herkunft und Natur unserer Erlebniswelt - der 'Wirklichkeit' - eingegangen sowie auf die Frage nach ihrer Beziehung zu einer bewußtseinsunabhängigen 'Realität'. Die Beantwortung dieser Frage hat weitreichende Konsequenzen für den erkenntnistheoretischen Status (natur)wissenschaftlicher Aussagen. Ein Anspruch auf 'Wahrheit' im Sinne objektiv gültiger Aussagen muß verneint werden - im Wissenschaftsalltag wird ein solcher Anspruch auch gar nicht erhoben.
