Immer häufiger werden Wikipedia-Artikel Gegenstand von handfesten Auseinandersetzungen. Die deutsche Sektion von Wikipedia musste sich Anfang des Jahres dem ersten Gerichtsverfahren stellen, weil die Eltern eines verstorbenen Berliner Hackers die Nennung des Namens in der Internet-Enzyklopädie verbieten lassen wollten. Obwohl Wikimedia den Rechtsstreit ganz klar gewann, war das Gerichtsverfahren eine Belastungsprobe für die Organisation. Mit einem Geschäftsführer will Wikimedia solchen Herausforderungen in Zukunft besser gewachsen sein. Kongress Mitte Juni in Göttingen Aktuell bemühen sich die Anhänger des freien Wissens besonders um die Mitarbeit von Wissenschaftlern. So investierte der Förderverein 1000 Euro für die Digitalisierung eines Mathematik-Lehrbuches aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Im Internet wird jetzt die Handschrift in gemeinschaftlicher Arbeit erfasst und der Allgemeinheit zur freien Verfügung gestellt. Für Wissenschaftler ist ein solches Modell attraktiv - verschlingen Fachzeitschriften und wissenschaftliche Datenbanken doch einen großen Teil der knappen Mittel. Noch offensiver will Wikimedia in zwei Wochen in Göttingen für das Modellprojekt Wikipedia werben. Am 16. und 17. Juni veranstaltet der Verein in Göttingen die Wikipedia Academy - ein zweitägiger Kongress für Wissenschaftler und Wikipedianer, die sich über die Möglichkeiten der Zusammenarbeit im Internet austauschen wollen. Auch Wikipedia selbst steht auf der Tagesordnung - so sind zur Zeit zahlreiche Wissenschaftler damit beschäftigt, das Phänomen Wikipedia systematisch zu erforschen. Wie die Wikipedia-Gemeinschaft genau funktioniert, ist für die professionellen Wissensverwalter sehr spannend. Einen Gegensatz zwischen professionellen Wissenschaftlern und Amateur-Enzyklopädie-Autoren sieht Klempert übrigens nicht: "Ehrenamtliche und hauptamtliche Arbeit vertragen sich in der Regel sehr gut."
