    Abstract
    Die Zahl von Netzwerkakteuren steigt ebenso beständig wie die Menge an Inhalten, die von denselbigen produziert wird. Wir stellen visuell orientierte explorative Werkzeuge vor, die bisher unsichtbare Netzwerkprozesse und Zusammenhänge aus der Vogelperspektive darstellen sollen. Anhand unseres Projekts "MemeMapper" untersuchen wir weiters, wie wir als Designer und Entwickler dazu beitragen können, dass sich Nutzer effektiver informieren und an der Produktion von Inhalten in ihrem Netzwerk beteiligen können.

    Abstract
    Je mehr Informationen gleichzeitig, übersichtlich dargestellt und überwacht werden können, desto höher wird der Informations-Nutzen für einen Besucher oder potentiellen Kunden von ihnen sein. Da wir in einer Zeit der Informationsüberflutung leben, hilft uns das Information-Panel in Zukunft als multimediales Informationssystem. Ein Interface ist in unserem heutigen multimedialen Umfeld ein Bestandteil eines Systems, das dem Austausch von Informationen dient. Durch Information-Panels (sog. I-Panels) kann der Mensch mit Geräten interagieren, indem er sich wahlweise die für ihn masßgeschneiderten Informationen darstellen lässt. Für den Interface-Theoretiker Artur P. Schmidt können Information-Panels heute als eine Art Enzyklopädie für Informationen und Nachrichten aller Art dienen, wie sein Internet-Projekt "Der Wissensnavigator" belegt. Das Vorbild für multimediale Panels ist die geordnete Verbindung von Inhalten. Das Information-Panel als MenschMaschine-Interface kann zum "Punkt der Begegnung" oder "Kopplung zwischen zwei oder mehr Systemen" werden. Es übernimmt eine Übersetzung- und Vermittlungsfunktion.

    Abstract
    Die Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) verfügt seit ihrer Gründung 1945 über ein Pressearchiv, das die Texte der eigenen Redakteure und zahlreicher nationaler und internationaler Publikationen dokumentiert und für Recherchezwecke bereitstellt. Die DIZ-Pressedatenbank (www.medienport.de) ermöglicht die browserbasierte Recherche für Redakteure und externe Kunden im Intra- und Internet und die kundenspezifischen Content Feeds für Verlage, Rundfunkanstalten und Portale. Die DIZ-Pressedatenbank enthält z. Zt. 7,8 Millionen Artikel, die jeweils als HTML oder PDF abrufbar sind. Täglich kommen ca. 3.500 Artikel hinzu, von denen ca. 1.000 durch Dokumentare inhaltlich erschlossen werden. Die Informationserschließung erfolgt im DIZ nicht durch die Vergabe von Schlagwörtern am Dokument, sondern durch die Verlinkung der Artikel mit "virtuellen Mappen", den Dossiers. Insgesamt enthält die DIZ-Pressedatenbank ca. 90.000 Dossiers, die untereinander zum "DIZ-Wissensnetz" verlinkt sind. DIZ definiert das Wissensnetz als Alleinstellungsmerkmal und wendet beträchtliche personelle Ressourcen für die Aktualisierung und Qualitätssicherung der Dossiers auf. Im Zuge der Medienkrise mussten sich DIZ der Herausforderung stellen, bei sinkenden Lektoratskapazitäten die Qualität der Informationserschließung im Input zu erhalten. Auf der Outputseite gilt es, eine anspruchsvolle Zielgruppe - u.a. die Redakteure der Süddeutschen Zeitung - passgenau und zeitnah mit den Informationen zu versorgen, die sie für ihre tägliche Arbeit benötigt. Bezogen auf die Ausgangssituation in der Dokumentation der Süddeutschen Zeitung identifizierte DIZ drei Ansatzpunkte, wie die Aufwände auf der Inputseite (Lektorat) zu optimieren sind und gleichzeitig auf der Outputseite (Recherche) das Wissensnetz besser zu vermarkten ist: - (Teil-)Automatische Klassifizierung von Pressetexten (Vorschlagwesen) - Visualisierung des Wissensnetzes - Neue Retrievalmöglichkeiten (Ähnlichkeitssuche, Clustering) Im Bereich "Visualisierung" setzt DIZ auf den Net-Navigator von intelligent views, eine interaktive Visualisierung allgemeiner Graphen, basierend auf einem physikalischen Modell.     Abstract
    Zweidimensionale Karten dienen im Information Retrieval (IR) immer häufiger der Visualisierung von Dokumentbeständen. Über die Qualität der verschiedenen Methoden zur Erzeugung dieser Karten ist wenig bekannt. In diesem Artikel werden nach einem Überblick über Stand der Forschung und Technik zu Visualisierungen und ihrer Bewertung zwei Verfahren hinsichtlich ihrer Unterschiede verglichen. Die Evaluierung basiert auf der Perspektive des Benutzers beim Browsing in einer Karte. Das Experiment zeigt, dass die Methoden sowohl bei großen als auch bei kleinen Dokumentenmengen zu sehr unterschiedlichen Karten führen und zwischen den Karten keine Korrelation besteht. Das Ergebnis der Untersuchung ist in zweifacher Hinsicht interpretierbar. zum einen kann nicht davon ausgegangen werden, dass sich ein spezielles Verfahren der Dimensionsreduktion eindeutig anbietet, es muss also auf den speziellen Anwendungsfall hin überprüft werden, welches Verfahren anzuwenden ist. Zum anderen scheint aber auch kein Verfahren zu vollkommen unbrauchbaren Ergebnissen zu führen, so dass davon ausgegangen werden kann, dass die einzelnen Verfahren einander ergänzend unterschiedliche Aspekte des Dokumentbestandes beleuchten. Hierzu sollten weitere Tests folgen.

    "Die Recherche im "klassischen" OPAC verlangt eine exakte Formulierung der Suchanfrage, aber viele Bibliotheksbenutzer wissen nicht genau, wonach sie eigentlich suchen. So bleiben oft wertvolle Treffer oder sogar Teile des Bibliotheksbestandes von den Bibliotheksbenutzern unentdeckt. Ein neues Produkt in der Angebotspalette des Bibliothekssoftware-Herstellers BOND GmbH & Co. KG schafft Abhilfe: Der AquaBrowser Library. Er sprengt die Grenzen der konventionellen OPAC-Suche und bietet ein neues, "ergonomisches" Sucherlebnis: die erste progressive und interaktive Suchumgebung. AquaBrowser Library bezieht in die OPAC-Suche automatisch assoziative Begriffe, Synonyme, unterschiedliche Schreibweisen, Übersetzungen sowie den Kontext mit ein. So werden automatisch neue Suchpfade generiert, der Suchbereich und somit auch das Trefferspektrum erweitert. Als Ergebnis erhält der Informationssuchende eine umfangreichere und qualitativ präzisere Ergebnisliste. Das Suchergebnis geht weit über eine Suchliste hinaus: Der Suchbegriff eines Benutzers wird mit den im Bibliothekskatalog enthaltenen Metadaten verglichen. Dabei werden assoziative Begriffe, Synonyme, alternative Schreibweisen, Übersetzungen in Fremdsprachen sowie der Kontext mit einbezogen. Daraus generiert sich automatisch eine visuelle Karte, die so genannte "Word Cloud". Sie stellt alle Assoziationen oder Überblicke über interessante Themenbereiche grafisch logisch dar. Die Begriffe sind Vorschläge und Hilfestellungen für den Bibliotheksbenutzer. Per Klick auf die "Word Cloud" kann er so neue Informationen entdecken und seine Suchanfrage präzisieren und lenken. Beispielsweise werden Tippfehler erkannt und alternative Schreibweisen angeboten. Gibt ein Leser den Suchbegriff "Auto" ein, beinhaltet das Suchergebnis auch Medien zu "PKW", "Kraftfahrzeug" oder "KFZ". Es werden sogar Treffer angezeigt, bei denen der gesuchte Begriff in einer anderen Sprache (englisch, spanisch oder niederländisch) im Katalogisat hinterlegt ist (z.B. car). Bei jeder Suchabfrage erstellt AquaBrowser Library automatisch eine Liste relevanter Kriterien, nach denen der Benutzer seine Ergebnisse filtern kann. Ein Klick auf ein Kriterium genügt und schon werden die Suchergebnisse präzisiert. Auf diese Weise schränken Mediensuchende die Treffer zielgenau ein und gelangen so schnell und exakt zu der spezifischen Information, die sie brauchen. Die Verfeinerungskriterien sind übersichtlich anhand von Kategorien gegliedert (z.B. Schlagwort, Verfasser, Sprache, Personen, Thema, Reihe oder Jahr)."

    Abstract
    Im Rahmen des betrieblichen Wissensmanagement nimmt die Wissenskommunikation eine zentrale Funktion ein. Wird Wissen offen und konstruktiv kommuniziert, kann neu benötigtes Wissen zeitnah generiert werden. Dazu muss individuelles und organisationales Wissen miteinander verzahnt werden. Durch das innovative Werkzeug topomap®, das die bisher vernachlässigten epistemologischen Dimensionen des Wissens mit Visualisierungslogiken zu erschließen hilft, kann die betriebliche Wissenskommunikation nachhaltig belebt werden. Der einzelne Mitarbeiter erhält Einblick in eigene und fremde Wissensprofile. So kann er Modellierungspotentiale und Lernbrücken zu neuem Wissen in einer dreidimensionalen Lernlandschaft konkret lokalisieren. Diese Tools sind im Fachinformationsmanagementsystem (FMS), das die ONLINE GmbH in Freiburg entwickelt hat integriert. So können neben der Sammlung rein organisationaler Informationen im Archiv-, Dokumentations- oder Bibliotheksmodul, die individuellen Wissensstrukturen der einzelnen Mitarbeiter systematisch erfasst und analysiert werden und produktiv für die Organisation umgesetzt werden.

    Abstract
    Das World Wide Web stellt umfangreiche Datenmengen zur Verfügung. Für den Benutzer wird es zunehmend schwieriger, diese Datenmengen zu sichten, zu bewerten und die relevanten Daten herauszufiltern. Einen Lösungsansatz für diese Problemstellung bieten Visualisierungsinstrumente, mit deren Hilfe Rechercheergebnisse nicht mehr ausschließlich über textbasierte Dokumentenlisten, sondern über Symbole, Icons oder graphische Elemente dargestellt werden. Durch geeignete Visualisierungstechniken können Informationsstrukturen in großen Datenmengen aufgezeigt werden. Informationsvisualisierung ist damit ein Instrument, um Rechercheergebnisse in einer digitalen Bibliothek zu strukturieren und relevante Daten für den Benutzer leichter auffindbar zu machen.
