(1c) Wird dieser Bestand vollständig oder nur in Auswahl (einzelne Fächer, Lehrbücher, Dissertationen o.ä.) sachlich erschlossen? (1d) Seit wann bestehen die jetzigen Sachkataloge? (2) Auf welche Art wird der Bestand zur Zeit sachlich erschlossen? (3a) Welche Klassifikation wird angewendet? (3b) Gibt es alphabetisches SyK-Register bzw. einen Zugriff auf die Klassenbeschreibungen? (3c) Gibt es ergänzende Schlüssel für die Aspekte Ort, Zeit, Form? (4) Falls Sie einen SWK führen (a) nach welchem Regelwerk? (b) Gibt es ein genormtes Vokabular oder einen Thesaurus (ggf. nur für bestimmte Fächer)? (5) In welcher Form existieren die Sachkataloge? - Abstract
- This paper presents an evolving framework for human information behaviour, including information exploration, seeking, filtering, use and dissemination. It is based on empirical studies of human information behaviour in a variety of settings (Iivonen & Sonnenwald, 1998; Sonnenwald, 1993, 1995, 1996) and theories from a variety of research traditions, including information science, communication, sociology and psychology that inform our understanding of human information behaviour. I begin formulating the framework by discussing fundamental concepts, such as context, situation and social networks. Building on these concepts, I propose a series of propositions that strive to elucidate the framework. Key ideas in the framework include the introduction of the role of social networks in information exploration, and the concept of an `information horizon' in which we can act to explore information.

- Abstract
- In diesem Papier soll die Rolle des FIZ Karlsruhe auf dem Gebiet des elektronischen Publizierens dartgestellt werden. Die Produktion von wissenschaftlich-technischen Datenbanken wird weitergeführt und der Online-Service STN International soll weiter ausgebaut werden. In Ergänzung hierzu werden Kooperationen mit Bibliotheken und Verlagen vereinbart, um eine umfassende Volltextversorgung für Literatur und Patente sicherzustellen. Zusätzlich wird ein Konzept für einen Electronic Information and Publishing Service erarbeitet, das folgende Komponenten umfaßt: (i) eine Volltextarchivierung der Originalmanuskripte in unveränderlicher Form, (ii) ein Online-Angebot der Volltexte und (iii) einen Editorial-Service zur Unterstützung der Verlage beim elektronischen Publizieren

- Abstract
- Das Management von Daten, Information und wissen prägt die aktuelle Theorie und Praxis unternehmerischen Handelns. Der hier gewählte Einstieg in die theoretische Diskussion bildet der klassische Ansatz von I. Nonaka und H. Takeuchi über kreative Prozesse im Umgang mit der Wissensressource in Unternehmen. Es wird dabei auf Rezeption und Kritik dieses Ansatzes durch G. Schreyögg, Chr. Noss, D.B. Bürgel, A. Zeller und P. Reinmöller eingegangen. Im zweiten Teil, der sich mit der Praxis des Wissensmanagements befaßt, werden Beispiele aus Nonaka/Takeuchi sowie aus den von Th. Davenport und L. Prusak in ihrem Buch 'Working knowledge' (1997) analysierten Fällen aufgeführt. Die Darstellung schließt mit Hinweisen auf deutsche Unternehmen sowie auf Veranstaltungen und Websites zu diesem Thema. Der Ausblick gibt Auskunft über die Bedeutung von Wissensmanagement in der FH Stuttgart (HBI)

- Abstract
- False imprint information and other deceptive publication details present problems for catalogers. In this article, I describe different types of misleading information, including fictitions names of publishers, incorrect places of publication, and false dates; mention possible reasons for deception, including fear of prosecution, and emphasize the need for catalogers to be suspicious when handling certain types of material. Erotic printed materials and bootleg sound recordings are discussed in detail, and examples of misleading information in each medium and explanations of how cataloging rules address or fail to address specific circumstances are included. Catalogers need to be aware of both the potential problems associated with certain types of materials and the types of reference sources to consult when dealing with those materials.
