    Abstract
    Im Rahmen eines Projekts gingen Stu­dierende an der HAW Hamburg für ihre Auftraggeber Lycos Europe und T-Online der Frage nach, wie sich Inhalte aus sozialen Suchdiensten in die algorithmische Suche einbinden lassen. Dazu analysierten und verglichen sie die Vor- und Nachteile der Systeme, die Relevanz der Sucher­gebnisse, die Benutzerfreundlichkeit sowie die Qualität der Inhalte. Für soziale Software ergaben sich daraus bedeutende Verbesserungspotentiale. Der Text beschreibt die Ergebnisse und die Empfehlungen für Lycos IQ.

    Abstract
    Dieser Beitrag stellt einen Vergleich zwischen der Community-Plattform XING und einer semantischen Lösung für die KnowTech Community vor. Die semantische Lösung NETWORKING, die bei der KnowTech Community eingesetzt wurde und die XING gegenüber gestellt wird, ist hierbei vollkommen neu am Markt und stellt eine erste semantische Standardlösung für Communities dar. Der Vergleich wurde im Zuge der Bachelorarbeit "Mehrwert durch Semantik in sozialen Netzwerken im professionellen Kontext" an der Hochschule Darmstadt durchgeführt.

    Abstract
    Wer in der gegenwärtigen Situation des allgemeinen »Information Overload« für neue Internetdienste wirbt, wird mit größter Skepsis zu rechnen haben. Nicht noch mehr! Viele der Dienste, von denen im Folgenden die Rede sein wird, sind gegenwärtig selbst kommunalen EDV-Spezialisten unbekannt. Es spricht aber einiges dafür, dass zurzeit eine »heimliche Medienrevolution« (Erik Möller) im Internet stattfindet. Neue Formate und Plattformen setzen sich durch, die in erster Linie auf der Zusammenarbeit vieler Menschen beruhen.     Abstract
    Data is everywhere - praktisch bei allen wissenschaftlichen, staatlichen, gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Aktivitäten entstehen sie. Die Daten werden erzeugt durch Befragungen, mobile und eingebettete Systeme, Sensoren, Beobachtungssysteme, wissenschaftliche Instrumente, Publikationen, Experimente, Simulationen, Auswertungen und Analysen. Bürger, Wissenschaftler, Forschende und Lehrende kommunizieren durch den Austausch von Daten, Software, Veröffentlichungen, Berichte, Simulationen und Visualisierungen. Darüber hinaus führen die zunehmende Nutzung der visuellen Kommunikation für Unterhaltung und zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen sowie die rasche Zunahme der sozialen Netzwerke zu riesigen Datenmengen. Daten von Observatorien, Experimenten und Umweltüberwachung sowie aus der Genforschung und dem Gesundheitswesen generieren eine Größenordnung von Daten alle zwei Jahre, die weit über das Mooresche Gesetz hinausgeht - und dabei ist noch kein Ende in Sicht. Wissenschaftliche Publikationen sind Datengrundlage für die weitere wissenschaftliche Arbeit und Publikationen.
