    Abstract
Reference question referral may be as simple as a telephone call by the librarian to another library to obtain the answer to the patron's inquiry while the patron waits. It may also be a formal arrangement for the referral of questions, with specific goals and objectives, protocols, and procedures. Hogan's annotated bibliography of articles about reference question referral covers 1983 to 1994. Included is information on defining cooperative reference and the referred reference question, establishing networks and policies, a historical view of successes and failures, managing and avaluating cooperative systems, and describing methods of transferring information. Academic, public, and government libraries are discussed

    Abstract
A bibliography of the history of information science in North America, 1900-1995, created by the University of South Caroline College of Library and Information Science, USA, under a grant from the Special Interest Group Projects Fund of the American Society for Information Science. The project identified early individual and organizations of information science in the USA and Canada, determines the location of the personal/professional papers and archives of these pioneers, and compiled the bibliography. The bibliography id divided into: books (including encyclopaedia articles), journal articles, and unpublished papers

    Abstract
Identifies principal bibliographies of library science writing by Indians, beginning with a mimeographed list of 1966. The 1st published bibliography was by Ram Gopal Prasher, in 1971. In addition to general bibliographies, reference is made to numerous lists in special topics (e.g. Colon Classification) and special formats such as dissertations. Indexes to individual journals are also included. All entries have detailed, critical annotations. Concludes that, except for grey literature, the overall bibliographic control of Indian libaray literature appears to be strong

    Abstract
This selective bibliography, prepared for the Jun 1993 ALCTS CCS preconference on research in cataloging and classification, is intended for the librarian with little or no experience conducting research. Its aim is to acquaint the librarian with 'a few good books' (and one article) on research methods and statistics; to offer selections 'from the literature' that suggest potentially fruitful areas for research in cataloging and classification; and to assist the librarian in successfully communicating his or her findings to the library community

    Abstract
Every librarian knows undergraduate students rarely evaluate the information they find in a print index, much less what comes from a computer sreen. This knowledge is compounded by the undergraduate's belief that anything coming from the Internet is the gospel truth. Is the Internet being integrated into library instruction, taught as another research tool, or taught as something soecial? Are students being taught to evaluate Internet resources? In this annotated bibliography, Hahn examines journal articles, book chapters, and Web sites that discuss the evaluation of information found through the Internet

    Abstract
Many libraries are still conducting, or are contemplating, retrospective conversion (recon) projects in order to automate their catalogues. Unfortunately, many of the records retrieved from bibliographic utilities require some degree of editing in order that they (a) correctly represent items in the local catalogue and (b) conform to local cataloguing standards. There is little disagreement with this argument. But, the extent of editing necessary is highly debatable. The recon literature is reviewed on the issues of quality control, special material formats and collections, and costs.

    Abstract
This annotaed bibliography lists materials dealing with information literacy including instruction in the use of information resources, research, and computer skills related to retrieving, using, and evaluating information. This review, the 21nd to be published in RSR, includes items in English published in 1995. After 21 years, the title of this literature has been changed from 'Library orientation and instruction' to 'Library instruction and information literacy' to indicate the growing trend of moving to information skills instruction. A few items are not annotated because the compiler could not obtain copies of them for this review

    Abstract
This being the Birth Centenary.Year of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, it was deemed as a befitting tribute to the author of Colon Classifiction to bring together all that has been published thus far on it and complile it in the form of a bibliographies are an important source of information on a particular field of study and research. A research worker has to carry out the literature survey on the area of interest which sometimes consumes many precious man hours in order to collect some relevent citations. Thus bibliographies are a useful source in saving the precious time and energy of the reseach workers, and lead them to the primary sources for carryying out the research further to the destination.

    Abstract
On the 22nd of July, 1989, the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) was founded. Starting in August 1989 ISKO had an official organ, the journal International Classification. This Journal was founded in 1974 by Dr. Ingetraut Dahlberg, the first President of the ISKO. With volume 20 (1993) the name of the journal was changed to Knowledge Organization. This bibliography has been compiled on the occasion of the second decade of ISKO. This bibliography indexes the content of International Classification and Knowledge Organization starting with International Classification volume 16(1989) issue 3 and ending with Knowledge Organization volume 26(1999) issue 3. All articles and all book reviews are included. From the news items, only those for which an author is mentioned and that were especially written for International Classification or Knowledge Organization, are entered in this bibliography. The bibliography also contains the papers of conferences organized by the International Society for Knowledge Organization, one of its national chapters, or sponsored by the ISKO or one of its chapters. If we overlooked a conference of which the papers should have been included, we apologize for this omission. A list of the conferences included can be found in the list of abbreviations. The bibliography is based on the literature that was available to the compilers. However, not all conference proceedings included in the bibliography could be found in sources available to us. In these cases descriptions from the bibliographies in International Classification and Knowledge Organization were used. For a few proceedings the help of national chapters was sought and obtained. They deserve our thanks. The bibliography is ordered according to the classification used for the current bibliography in Knowledge Organization. The complete classification - as it is used now - is published in this issue of Knowledge Organization. The bibliography also includes an Author Index. We want to add that this bibliography is more complete than the bibliographies in International Classification and Knowledge Organization. We hope that you will find this bibliography useful and timely

    Abstract
Presents a state of the art review of the literature of expert systems in library and information science, involving exhaustive searches of all major LIS CD-ROM databases (LISA, ERIC, LiLi, INSPEC etc.) and bibliographies appended in review articles. The search retrieved 679 references, comprising 362 periodical articles, 180 conference proceedings, 63 books articles, 28 theses and 46 monographs. The growth of the literature peaked between 1989 and 1990 and subsequently declined after 1992. Over 1/3 (287) covered intelligent front ends and interfaces for online searching and retrieval, followed by applications in reference service (113), classification, indexing and abstracting (86) and cataloguing (7). The most productive periodicals comprised 6 titles, of which 'Information processing and management' topped the lsit: 43 authors were found to contribute between 5 and 35 articles each, hence contributing 32,19% of the total contributors. 382 of the publications were single author works, 172 were by 2 authors, 72 were by 3 authors and 49 were by 4 or more authors. Only 161 titles were expressive enough to reveal both the name and function of systems being developed

    Abstract
This book, based on the class room teaching experience, has been divided into thee parts deemed convenient to the student community to wich it is primarily adressed. Part-I ,the most important discusses about the Rules, Facet Formulae, Subject Analysis, etc. To tell the users as to from where the isolates in each Facet are to be obtained. Each rules of CC-6 is explained with suitable examples in order to make it understandable. Another feature of this manual is that "Solved Examples" follow the discussion for evry Main Class included in CC-6. To provided the students with the opportunity for practice, an "Exercise for Practic" has been added in each Chapter. This book includes about one thousand solved examples for practice, answers to which have ben provided at the end. The basic theoritical concept of CC-6 required essentially to understand the rules, have been explained in part-II.It includes such topics as Fundamental Categories, common Isolates Devices, Phase Relation, among othor, and are suitably illustrated. Efforts have been made to clarify the concepts in simple language with a view to understand the Indian scheme, cnsidered one of the scientific classification system in the world.
