Schild): "Der Anschaffungsgrund für dieses Buch war - wie könnte es in einer Museumsbibliothek anders sein - die Vorbereitung einer kleinen Ausstellung der Bibliothek des Filmmuseums Düsseldorf. Aus Anlass des zehnjährigen Bestehens der Dauerausstellung im Jahr 2003 stellten sich die Abteilungen, die eigentlich mehr hinter den Kulissen und damit für die Museumsbesucher unsichtbar tätig sind, in einer Ausstellungsreihe im Foyer des Filmmuseums vor. Die Bibliotheksausstellung gliederte sich in drei Teilbereiche: Darstellung der Aufgaben und der Arbeitsmittel anhand von Texttafeln und Objekten, Präsentation und Bereitstellung von elektronischen Recherchemöglichkeiten auf einem Rechner sowie die Vorstellung von ausgewählten Filmen zum Thema auf Texttafeln mit Kommentaren der Filmkritik und aus der Bibliotheksperspektive. Im deutschsprachigen Raum gab es bisher nur wenig Literatur zu diesem Thema: einen Aufsatz von Manfred Nagl in einer in Wolfenbüttel herausgegebenen buchhistorischen Zeitschrift im Jahr 1999 und zwei Artikel von Ingo Tornow 1994 und 1996 in der Zeitschrift "Buch und Bibliothek". 1999 gab es darüber hinaus ein Internet-Projekt an der Fachhochschule Hamburg, Fachbereich Bibliothek und Information, mit dem schönen Namen "Die graue Maus: Bibliothekare in Literatur und Film", das u.a. die Listen von Ingo Tornow ausgewertet hat. All diese Publikationen findet man in der Bibliographie des Buches, die insgesamt knapp 50 Titel enthält. Der Autor Dario D'Alessandro, Leiter der Biblioteca provinciale G. d'Annunzio in Pescara, verzeichnet mehr als 460 Filme, die in irgendeiner Weise etwas mit der Institution Bibliothek oder dem Beruf Bibliothekarin zu tun haben: Alle italienischen und die synchronisierten ausländischen Filme wurden vollständig angesehen sowie der größte Teil der nicht synchronisierten ausländischen Filme. Die Filmbeschreibungen enthalten eine kurze Inhaltsangabe, die Beschreibung der Teile, in denen Bibliothek / Bibliothekar vorkommen sowie Autor und Werktitel bei Literaturverfilmungen. Dieser Filmographie, die ca. 40 Prozent des Gesamtumfangs ausmacht, geht ein ausführlicher Textteil voraus, in dem derAutor das gesichtete Material typisiert und in einen kulturhistorischen Kontext stellt. Ferner vergleicht er die Bilder mit der prosaischen Wirklichkeit. Nach Ausführungen zu allgemeinen Aspekten (Stereotypen, dem Geschlechterverhältnis, berühmten und weniger bekannten Bibliotheken) geht er über zur Analyse der Darstellung der verschiedenen Bibliothekstypen (die öffentliche Bibliothek und ihre Dienste, Spezialbibliotheken, Schulbibliotheken, Bibliotheken an Universitäten und Colleges, Kirchliche Bibliotheken, Schlossbibliotheken, Bibliotheken von Zeitschriftenverlagen und TV-Sendern, Juristische Bibliotheken, Gefängnisbibliotheken) bzw. der Darstellung einzelnerAspekte der Berufspraxis (Internet und Computer, Bibliotheksausweis, Telefon und Bibliothek, Ruhe!, Störungen und Katastrophen, Büchertreppen/-leitern, Liebe in der Bibliothek). Ergänzt wird die Publikation durch verschiedene Register und Listen: Chronologie der Filme, Verzeichnis der Regisseure, Verzeichnis der Originaltitel mit übersetztem Titel, nicht gesehene Filme, die etwas zum Thema beinhalten könnten, zusätzliche Filmtitel, die nicht besprochen wurden. Diese Register bilden zusätzliche Such- bzw. Rechercheeinstiege, die vor allem für filmbezogene Archive und Bibliotheken hilfreich sind.

    Das zweite Kapitel beschreibt CSCL-Umgebungen wie z. B. Koordinationswerkzeuge zur Bildung von Lerngruppen (T. Reichling, A. Becks, O. Bresser und V Wulf ) oder die Kooperation in kleineren und in größeren Lerngruppen. Konzeptionell wertvoll sind insbesondere Beiträge von J. Haake, M. Wessner und P Dawabi über kooperative Lernräume sowie über neue Konzepte für die Lerngruppe (A.Kienle, T.Hermann u. a.) bzw. für den Lehrenden (M. Wessner, G. Schwab, J. Haake). Das dritte Kapitel ist der Didaktik gewidmet und enthält u. a. Beiträge über Lerngruppen, Moderation, Coaching und Medienwahl. Es endet mit einer originellen mediendidaktischen Konzeption (von M. Kerres, A. Nattland, I. Nübel) und mit interessanten "selbstorganisierenden Szenarien" (von P Arnold, E. Hornecker). Although the focus, purpose, and nature of the contents are different, this volume bears a similarity to the Hillmann and Westbrooks text insofar as it consists of a collection of papers written by various authors tied together by a general, common theme. In conclusion, this volume makes a significant contribution to the handful of books that attempt to present introductory level information about metadata to catalog librarians and students. Although it does not serve fully satisfactorily as a stand-alone textbook for an LIS course nor as a single unified and comprehensive introduction for catalogers, it, like the others mentioned above, could serve as an excellent supplementary LIS course text, and it is highly worthwhile reading for working catalogers who want to learn more about metadata, as well as librarians and instructors already well-versed in metadata topics."

This compilation has been divided into four sections: historical introduction, compilation of several definitions about knowledge and its management, impacts of knowledge management (KM) an information professionals and, review of information technologies as tools for knowledge management. The aim of this book is to provide "a succinct overview of various aspects of knowledge management, particularly in companies" (p. v). Each chapter focuses an a dominant text in a specific area. Most of the quoted authors are known consultants in KM. Each chapter is similarly handled: a review of a dominant book, some subject matter from a few other consultants and, last but not least, comments an a few broadly cited cases. Each chapter is uneven with regards to the level of detail provided, and ending summaries, which would have been useful, are missing. The book is structured in two parts containing five chapters each. The first part is theoretical, the second deals with knowledge workers and technologies. Haravu begins the first chapter with a historical overview of information and knowledge management (IKM) essentially based an the review previously made by Drucker (1999). Haravu emphasises the major facts and events of the discipline from the industrial revolution up to the advent of the knowledge economy. On the whole, this book is largely technology-oriented. The lecturer presents micro-economic factors contributing to the economic perspective of knowledge management, focusing an the existing explicit knowledge. This is Haravu's prevailing perspective. He then offers a compilation of definitions from Allee (1997) and Sveiby (1997), both known for their contribution in the area of knowledge evaluation. As many others, Haravu confirms his assumption regarding the distinction between information and knowledge, and the knowledge categories: explicit and tacit, both actions oriented and supported by rules (p. 43). The SECI model (Nonaka & Takeuchi, 1995), also known as "knowledge conversion spiral" is described briefly, and the theoretically relational dimension between individual and collectivities is explained. Three SECI linked concepts appear to be missing: contexts in movement, intellectual assets and leadership.
