- Abstract
- Deux langages d'indexation (le RVM Laval et Rameau) pour une seule langue (le français) : n'y a-t-il pas là un paradoxe et, d'une certaine manière, un luxe inutile ? Nous allons nous efforcer de démontrer le contraire en présentant les deux types de raisons qui expliquent cette nécessité, raisons d'ordre linguistique et culturel, d'une part, et raisons d'ordre administratif et de gestion, d'autre part. Cette autonomie assumée des deux langages ne signifie pas cependant qu'ils s'ignorent, tout au contraire. L'esprit de collaboration qui anime les deux institutions est soutenu par une coopération officialisée ainsi que par une coopération de tous les jours.

- Abstract
- This paper describes the efforts at the Daniel Cosio Villegas Library of Colegio de Mexico (Mexico) to create a Spanish language authority file on its ALEPH online system. To date, the authorities team, composed of about ten librarians, have created over 10,000 name authorities, and close to 4,000 subject authorities in MARC format, closely following the structure of the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) records. For the subject authority file, it was decided to establish three levels of description, all of which include the LCSH English term. In order to establish the term in Spanish, seven official sources have been used, with Bilindex (1984) having the highest usage, closely followed by the subject headings list developed by Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) of Spain. As the first Mexican NACO/SACO participants, librarians at the Colegio de Mexico Library also received training by personnel from the Library of Congress in the creation and validation of subject headings.

- Abstract
- We aim to trace the scenario of the use of controlled vocabularies as tools of research and work in the scope of representation and retrieval of information in institutions that have archival collections, in order to highlight the need for greater emphasis on the subject of representation of archival information in the academic field, increasing the visibility for the study and analysis of the collections in question and their contents, relevant to the information society. We investigate the current scenario of the use of controlled vocabularies in the archival collections of Rio de Janeiro, the theoretical-methodological changes arising from the impacts of information technologies on analysis, representation, such as classification and indexing, content retrieval, information needs in the contemporary world. The representation of information is associated with classification and retrieval of information to the organization of knowledge in information science. There is a gap in the archival area regarding the expression representation of information from the description of the nineteenth century. As for the theoretical-methodological aspect, there was a theoretical survey of the representation of information in publications in the interdisciplinary areas; as to the op-erational methodology, questionnaires were applied to information agencies on the use of controlled vocabularies, in relation to the treatment of information in archival collections. We conclude by demonstrating the importance of adopting the concept of information representation in archives, using controlled vocabularies associated with new information technologies and informational ecology, consolidating the area as a scientific and interdisciplinary field for information science.

- "Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, die Bibliothèque nationale de France, die Library of Congress und das Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) sind übereingekommen, gemeinsam den »Virtual International Authority File« (VIAF), eine Virtuelle Internationale Normdatei, aufzubauen und fortzuentwickeln. Die einzelnen Normdateien sollen im VIAF virtuell zu einem gemeinsamen Normdaten-Service integriert werden, der den Zugang zu den Namen aller einbezogenen Normdateien bietet. Die Vereinbarung baut auf einem vorausgegangenen Forschungsprojekt auf, in dem die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek gemeinsam mit der Library of Congress und OCLC durch die Zusammenführung ihrer Personennamendateien nachgewiesen haben, dass der Aufbau eines Virtual International Authority File auch unter den Bedingungen großer Datenbestände machbar ist. Mit der neuen Kooperationsvereinbarung stößt die Bibliothèque nationale de France hinzu, und der VIAF wird um die französischen Normdaten erweitert. Langfristig zielt das VIAF-Projekt darauf ab, die Normdateien möglichst vieler Bibliotheken zu einem globalen VIAF-Service zu integrieren, der für die Nutzer im Web weltweit frei zugänglich ist."

- Abstract
- Die Uneindeutigkeit von Personennamen erschwert im Rahmen der bibliothekarischen Erschließung die eindeutige Zuordnung von Autorinnen und Autoren zu ihren Werken. Bibliotheken im deutschsprachigen Raum adressieren das Problem der Mehrdeutigkeit von Namen durch den Einsatz der Gemeinsamen Normdatei (GND). Die internationale Initiative ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) verfolgt das gleiche Ziel. Akteur ist hier jedoch die einzelne Wissenschaftlerin oder der einzelne Wissenschaftler. Das Projekt "ORCID DE - Förderung der Open Researcher and Contributor ID in Deutschland" hat sich, dank der Förderung der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), unter anderem zum Ziel gesetzt, einen Brückenschlag zwischen den beiden Systemen - GND und ORCID - zu schaffen, um damit die Datenqualität beider Systeme wechselseitig zu erhöhen. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über ORCID und das Projekt ORCID DE. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die angestrebte Verlinkung von GND und ORCID eingegangen.
