    Abstract
The nature and implications of electrocopying are summarised. After a brief review of the principles of copyright, the issue of whether electrocopying infringes copyright is debated. Publishers are aware of the threat that electrocopying poses to their business. The various options available to publishers for responding to electrocopying are summarised. Patterns of scholarly communications and the relationships between authors, publishers and libraries are being challenged. Constructive dialogue is necessary if the issues are to be resolved

    Abstract
Discusses the publishing of books online on the Internet, in the USA. The issues is treated mainly in relation to trade publishers. Outlines various ways in which such publishers have so far used the Internet, for example in the publishing of the full text of works of fiction, for publishing catalogues, and for presenting authors to the public via bulletin boards or electronic conferences. Notes a number or problems which arise: copyright, payment for accessing items, advertising restrictions, and the ease with which the published unit can be tampered with when available on the Internet. Also discusses collaboration and conflicts between publishers and the technology industry

    Abstract
The publication of scholarly works in a networked electronic environment presents opportunities for solving problems with printed services. At the same time, copyright developed primarily for printed works, has been used to create stumbling blocks both for faculty authors and their institutions. This has accurred because publishers have required a transfer of copyright as a quid pro quo for publication. New models of copyright ownership and management can be developed for electronic publishing of scholarly works and research uses, and ultimately will reduce costs to universities which currently must repurchase faculty produced works from commercial publishers

    Abstract
Dealing with some of the effects of multimedia for those involved in the conventional publishing chain. Among the aspects dealt with are the rival formats for distribution and playback; how publishers are apporaching multimedia, and software companies approaching publishing; multimedia music; ownership copyright; and networking implications. Notes the role of SuperJANET in the UK in the area of multimedia networking, and the prospect of publishers beginning to use networks as a way of publishing and distributing their products

    Abstract
From incomplete networks, questions of quality control and copyright, to unified pricing policies, the route to fully electronic scientific communication has many pitfalls. However, change is inevitable, and a quick tour of the models currently being investigated is provided. These include researchers' own electronic publishing ventures. OCLC/AAAS electronic journal 'Current clinical trials', 'IEE's Electronics letters', American Chemical Society (ACS) projects with and without graphics, Elsevier's TULIP (The University Licensing Programme) project to supply 42 materials science journals in electronic form, and the Institute of Physics Publishing future developments including the SuperJournal demonstration project on the SuperJanet network

    Abstract
Examines the USA national context of electronic publishing. Before the visions of electronic publishing become a reality the following issues must be dealt with: market readiness, availability of public and private funding, delivery standards, enabling software, intellectual property concerns, and new pricing and licensing models. Examines CD-ROM publishing, customized college publishing, and electronic only journals and discusses the electronic distribution of traditional print journals

    Abstract
This book addresses some of the most perplexing issues related to the widening use of electronic media as a supplement to, or substitute for, paper-based print. These issues include access rights, preservation, standards, and copyright, among others. The book also provides a look at some proposals, prototypes, and processes in electronic publishing

    Abstract
Examines 2 European Commission projects starting in Dec 95 aimed at managing access and protection for intellectual property. The Intellectual Multimedia Property Rights Model and Terminology for Universal References (IMPRIMATUR) project involves 16 partners with a network server in Italy. The Coordinating Project for Electronic Authors' Right Management Systems (COPEARMS) aims to develop the copyright in Transmitted Electronic Documents (CITED) work. Two other projects are also described: Copyright Ownership Protection in Computer Assisted Training (COPICAT) and MultiMedia Education System for Librarians Introducing Remote Interactive Processing of Electronic Documents (MURIEL)
