    Abstract
    In 75 Normenausschüssen und Kommissionen mit 3.244 Arbeitsausschüssen werden kontinuierlich rund 8.000 Norm-Projekte im DIN bearbeitet. 2.500 Normen, Norm-Entwürfe und Vornormen werden jährlich fertig gestellt und veröffentlicht. Die Normenausschüsse verantworten die nationale, europäische und internationale Normung in ihren jeweiligen Fach- und Wissensgebieten und setzen sich für die Einführung der erarbeiteten Normen ein. Einer dieser Normenausschüsse ist der Normenausschuss Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen (NABD). Er wurde bereits 1927 gegründet und ist damit einer der ältesten Normenausschüsse überhaupt. Sein Aufgabengebiet und Tätigkeitsspektrum ist größer als es sein Name vermuten lässt; er ist zuständig für die Normung beim Erstellen, Publizieren, Erschließen, Erhalten, Wiederauffinden, Vermitteln und Nutzen von Dokumenten und Daten im Bereich des Archiv-, Bibliotheks-, Dokumentations-, Museums- und Verlagswesens. Auch die aktive Mitwirkung an europäischen und internationalen Normungsprojekten und die Vertretung deutscher Interessengehört zu den Aufgaben des NABD. Aktuell hat der NABD seine Arbeit in 7 Arbeitsausschüssen organisiert, die teilweise zusätzlich in Arbeitkreise untergliedert sind, um damit speziellen Themen besser gerecht werden zu können. - Arbeitsausschuss Transliteration und Transkription - Arbeitsausschuss Technische Interoperabilität - Arbeitsausschuss Bibliotheksmanagement - Arbeitsausschuss Beschreibung und Identifizierung von Dokumenten - Arbeitsausschuss Länderzeichen - Arbeitsauschuss Bestandserhaltung in Archiven und Bibliotheken - Arbeitsauschuss Schriftgutverwaltung und Langzeitverfügbarkeit digitaler Informationsobjekte. Das DIN unterstützt die Arbeit der Normungsausschüsse als Dienstleister durch die Schaffung des organisatorischen Rahmens; es vertritt bei der Normungsarbeit keine eigenen Interessen. Erarbeitet werden die Normen von den am jeweiligen Thema interessierten Kreisen, die ihre Experten in die in die Ausschüsse entsenden. Normen entstehen im Konsens: Die Experten verständigen sich über die Inhalte mit dem Ziel, unter Berücksichtigung des Standes der Technik eine gemeinsame Auffassung zu erreichen.

    Abstract
    Was ist Informationskompetenz? Was macht Informationskompetenz ist Kern aus? Wie weit greift sie, wo endet sie? Inwiefern spielt Informationskompetenz mit weiteren Kompetenzen zusammen? Der heute ziemlich abgenutzte Begriff "Informationskompetenz" entstand in den 1970er Jahren aus Furcht vor dem "Information Overload" und dem "Wissens- und Entwicklungsvorsprung", der durch die Raumfahrtindustrie bewirkt wurde. Er wurde insbesondere vom amerikanischen und britischen Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen übernommen. Bis heute beansprucht insbesondere das Archiv-, Dokumentations- und Bibliothekswesen unter anderem zur Legitimierung ihrer Daseinsberechtigung diese "Kernkompetenz" der Informationsbedarfsdeckung und "Findability" mit Bezug auf das analoge und digitale bibliothekarische Informationsangebot (Kataloge, Datenbanken, E-Journals, E-Books usw.).

    Aktualisierung RAK-WBAnlage 5.2 »Transliteration der griechischen Buchstaben« Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek hat auf ihrer Website die Aktualisierung RAK-WBAnlage 5.2 »Transliteration der griechischen Buchstaben« in elektronischer Form veröffentlicht. Unter www.d-nb.de/standardisierung/p df/rak_wb_anlage_ 5_2.pdf steht diese Aktualisierung kostenfrei zur Verfügung. Die DIN 31634 (Information und Dokumentation - Umschrift des griechischen Alphabets) ist im Juni 2009 erschienen und ersetzt die Version aus dem Jahr 1982. Die Norm wurde vom Normenausschuss Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen, Arbeitsausschuss NABD 1 »Transliteration und Transkription«, erarbeitet. Sie schreibt das in ihr festgeschriebene Umschriftsystem, das seinen Ursprung in einer langen wissenschaftlichen Praxis hat, kontinuierlich fort.
