    Abstract
    Mitarbeiter des von der DFG geförderten Projekts »Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Romanischer Kulturkreis« beleuchten schlaglichtartig Probleme, die sich aus dem Konzept »Virtuelle Fachbibliothek«, seiner Geschichte sowie den damit verbundenen Anforderungen ergeben. Von der Praxis ausgehend wird der Versuch unternommen, grundsätzliche Fragen zur Weiterentwicklung des Konzepts »ViFa« sowie der damit verbundenen DFG-Förderung zu stellen. Konkret wird zunächst geprüft, welcher Logik die in der Vifarom betreute Fächerkombination und der regionale Zuschnitt des Portals folgen. Im zweiten, dritten und vierten Abschnitt werden folgende Anforderungen diskutiert: das Desiderat einer übergreifenden sachlichen Recherche, die indexbasierte Metasuche in Kombination mit dem One-Stop-Shop sowie der Fachinformationsführer als medienspezifische Fortsetzung des SSG-Sammelauftrags. Am Ende werden Perspektiven des Portals skizziert, eine Bedeutungserweiterung des SSG-Systems durch die ViFas erwogen und der Prozesscharakter von ViFas betont, die gleichwohl als Verstetigungsaufgabe zu betrachten sind.
