- Abstract
- Die kooperative Führung der Schlagwortnormdatei und die Gewährleistung der Qualität der in ihr enthaltenen Daten sind mit einem enormen Aufwand verbunden, der durch den Einsatz der EDV und geeignete Organisationsstrukturen nur geringfügig reduziert werden kann. Die Erstellung der SWD-Normdatensätze bleibt aufgrund der Vielzahl der den Ansetzungsformen beizufügenden Zusatzinformationen wie Codes, Notationen und Relationen relativ zeitintensiv. Diese lassen jedoch auch die SWD besonders wertvoll für die Recherche werden, da sie die Wiederauffindbarkeit der Daten unterstützen. Während die Schlagwortsuche in deutschen OPACs weit verbreitet ist, haben Codes, Notationen und Relationen bisher nur geringfügig Eingang in den OPAC gefunden. Bei einer Untersuchung von 111 Online-Katalogen wurde festgestellt, dass kein einziger OPAC all die Möglichkeiten nutzt, die mit der SWD gegeben sind. Am meisten werden noch Synonyme und - in geringerem Maße - hierarchische und assoziative Relationen zur Verbesserung des Recalls und zur Benutzerführung eingesetzt. Codes und Notationen finden nur vereinzelt Anwendung.

- Abstract
- Es werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. Ein wichtiger Teil der Aussagen betrifft das Gebiet der verbalen Sacherschließung und damit das nationale Regelwerk: Es werden Vorschläge für eine Reform der RSWK im Hinblick auf die Erfordernisse der OPAC unterbreitet. Regelwerk und Normdatei (SWD) bilden dabei eine Einheit und werden zusammen betrachtet. Im vergangenen Jahr wurden die Ergebnisse der Expertengruppe mit dem Schwerpunkt Formalerschließung vorgelegt, nun folgen die Aussagen zur Sacherschließung, welche die Expertengruppe - in veränderter personeller Zusammensetzung unter Leitung von Dr. Friedrich Geißelmann, Regensburg - erarbeitet hat. Die bibliothekarische Öffentlichkeit ist aufgefordert, sich dazu bis zum Jahresende zu äußern. Beide Berichte beziehen sich aufeinander und versuchen, den Zusammenhang zwischen Formal- und Sacherschließung herzustellen. Vom gegenwärtigen Stand der Sacherschließung in deutschen Bibliotheken ausgehend - wozu auch durch die Gruppe im Frühjahr 1993 eine Umfrage in wissenschaftlichen und Öffentlichen Bibliotheken gemacht worden ist, werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. - Die Sach-Schlagworte 'Population ...', 'Populisme ...' aus der SWD werden mit den entsprechenden Stichwörtern aus 'DUDEN: Das große Wörterbuch ... 1-8, 1993' und 'BROCKHAUS: Deutsches Wörterbuch ... 1-6, 1983' verglichen. Es wird vorgeschlagen, die thesaurusartigen Begriffsbeziehungen und die Systematiknotationen in der SWD zu streichen und anstattdessen die fachlichen, stilistischen, zeitlichen und räumlichen Zuordnungen zusammen mit den Bedeutungsangaben aus den genannten Wörterbüchern zu übernehmen. - Abstract
- Die DFG-Empfehlungen zur Weiterentwicklung der überregionalen Literaturversorgung greifen bedeutende Veränderungen der politischen Verhältnisse sowie des Publikations- und Informationswesens auf. Die zentrale politische Veränderung, der es zu entsprechn gilt, sind die aus der Vereinigung der beiden deutschen Staaten resultierenden neuen Bedarfsanforderungen, die sich auch für den Wissenschafts- und Bibliotheksbereich ergeben und eine entsprechen Ressourcenverteilung notwendig machen. Es gilt, das bisher auf die Bibliotheken der alten Länder gestützte System der überregionalen Literaturversorgung auch auf wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken der neuen Länder auszudehnen und dieses System als Gemeinschaftsaufgabe der alten und neuen Länder weiterzuentwickeln. Weitere wichtige Veränderungen, die das System der überregionalen Litearturversorgung berücksichtigen soll, resultiren aus dem schnellen Wandel der Informationstechnik, der neue Kommunikations- und Publikationsformen mit sich bringt und sich unmittelbar auf die Literatur- und Informationsversorgung auswirkt. Für das System der überregionalen Literaturversorgung ergeben sich daraus neue Anforderungen und Dienstleistungen

- "So haben wir inzwischen einen Stand der Diskussion erreicht, bei dem zwschen den Anforderungen an das, was Bibliotheken leisten sollten und dem, worüber Bibliothekare reden, eine immense Lücke klafft. Der Bericht der Expertengruppe Online-Kataloge ist dafür nur ein weiteres, leider trauriges Beispiel. Er ist aber auch - dies ist besonders zu bedauern - eine verpaßte Chance, denn hier hätte sich die ideale Gelegenheit geboten, für die neue Katalogform OPAC auch neue Möglichkeiten der Sacherschließung zu diskutieren. Da dies nicht geschehen ist, bleibt nur zu hoffen, daß unter dem sicher stärker werdenden Druck der Benutzer auf die Bibliotheken und deren Informationsangebot auch begonnen wird, offen über die bislang 'heilige Kuh' RSWK zu rden"

- Abstract
- »Sacherschließung - können wir uns die noch leisten?« Angesichts des zunehmend geringeren Gesamtetats, der den Bibliotheken zur Verfügung steht, drängt sich diese Frage nahezu auf. Sacherschließung ist teuer und für das moderne Bibliothekswesen nur dann noch tragbar, wenn der Mitteleinsatz in einem angemessenen Verhältnis zum Ergebnis steht, das sich in der Leistungsfähigkeit des Produkts widerspiegelt. Im deutschsprachigen Raum trägt die SWD wesentlich zu einer effektiveren Sacherschließungsarbeit bei. Ihre Pflege und Weiterentwicklung ist jedoch mit einem enormen Aufwand gekoppelt, der nur mit einer entsprechenden Nutzung der Daten für das thematische Retrieval in den OPACs gerechtfertigt werden kann.
