Wiesenmüller): "Im Jahr 1999 legte Friedrich Nestler, der frühere Direktor des Instituts für Bibliothekswissenschaft an der Humboldt-Universität, eine viel beachtete Neubearbeitung von Georg Schneiders »Handbuch der Bibliographie« (1. Auflage 1923) vor. Konsequenterweise hat er nun auch Schneiders »Einführung in die Bibliographie« (1936) bearbeitet. Bei diesem Text handelte es sich ursprünglich um den theoretischen Teil des »Handbuchs«, der bei den Rezensenten auf wenig Anklang gestoßen war. Für die 4. Auflage (1930) wurde er gestrichen, erschien jedoch sechs Jahre später in umgearbeiteter Form als eigenständige Publikation. In Schneider sieht Nestler einen direkten Vorgänger für seine - nicht zuletzt durch die Forschung in der DDR geprägte - Sichtweise der Bibliographie als ein »soziales Phänomen« (Seite IX), das sich »aus der kommunikativen Funktion der verzeichneten Texte ergibt« (Seite 28). Theoretische Modelle der Bibliographie machen denn auch den größten Teil des ersten Hauptkapitels aus. Dieses trägt zwar noch dieselbe Überschrift (»Begriff der Bibliographie«) wie bei Schneider, ist aber von 5 auf über 60 Seiten angewachsen und beinhaltet nun weit mehr als nur die Wortgeschichte. In einem Abschnitt zur bibliothekarischen Ausbildung kritisiert Nestler - ganz zu Recht - die traditionelle Vermittlung des Themas Bibliographie als bloße Abfolge einer langen Reihe bibliographischer Hilfsmittel, deren Charakteristika Stück für Stück zu erlernen sind. Dass das Aufkommen der elektronischen Medien hier zu einem »Wechsel der Optik« (Seite 16) geführt habe und seitdem mehr Wert auf eine theoretische Grundlage gelegt werde, kann die Rezensentin aus ihrer eigenen Erfahrung allerdings nicht bestätigen. ... Insgesamt gesehen bleibt die Neubearbeitung an vielen Stellen unbefriedigend. Dennoch ist es zu begrüßen, dass sie überhaupt erschienen ist: Gerade weil man sich an manchem reiben kann, könnte Nestlers Arbeit Anlass sein, sich von neuem mit dem Thema Bibliographie zu beschäftigen."

- Abstract
- Das in dieser Zeitschrift bereits vorgestellte Multisuchsystem E-Connect hat mittlerweile einige äußere und innere Anderungen und Erweiterungen erfahren. Abbildung 1 zeigt das Suchformular für die Suche in mehreren allgemeinen Aufsatz- und Verlagsdatenbanken. Ein entsprechendes Suchformular für die Suche nach Zeitschriftenaufsätzen mehrerer bzw. einzelner Fachgebiete ist ähnlich aufgebaut und enthält u. a. den vereinfachten Zugang zu dem fachlich den gesamten STIVI-Bereich umfassenden EnergyPortal Search und zu weiteren Datenbanken von elektronischen Aufsätzen, Reports und Preprints. Von der Startseite aus kann man jetzt auch über eine Suchmaschine sowohl die im Multisuchsystem als auch die in den Bibliographischen Datenbanken im Internet enthaltenen etwa 160 Datenbanken suchen und anwählen. Damit ist eine Art von digitaler Bibliothek entstanden, die vor allem elektronisch verfügbare Dokumente erschließt

- Im Aisthesis Verlag ist der erste Teil der Bibliografie Brigitte Reimann von Kristina Stella erschienen. Die Bibliografie ist das Ergebnis der jahrelangen Recherchen Stellas in Bibliotheken und Archiven. Das umfangreiche Nachschlagewerk ermöglicht erstmalig einen vollständigen Überblick über das Werk der DDR-Schriftstellerin und dessen Rezeption. Teil A verzeichnet die Primärliteratur und enthält zahlreiche Hintergrundinformationen zu den Werken und deren unterschiedlichen Ausgaben. Der Nachweis der Originalmanuskripte und der umfangreichen Korrespondenz Brigitte Reimanns mit Privatpersonen und Institutionen bietet eine umfassende Übersicht über die in den Archiven vorhandenen Dokumente. Bühnenwerke, Rundfunksendungen, Fernsehsendungen und Veranstaltungen mit Beteiligung von Brigitte Reimann werden in Auswahl nachgewiesen. Teil B dokumentiert die Sekundärliteratur zu den Texten Reimanns sowie die auf die Person Brigitte Reimann bezogenen Publikationen. - Abstract
- Lange Zeit galt die Geschichtswissenschaft gegenüber der neuen digitalen Medienwelt alles andere als aufgeschlossen. Das Bild des in verstaubten Akten und alten Büchern blätternden Historikers ist heute jedoch nur noch ein Vorurteil und die in Anlehnung an Nietzsche gestellte Frage nach dem »Nutzen und Nachteil des Internets für den Historiker» muss inzwischen eindeutig zugunsten des Internets beantwortet werden. Das am besten angenommene Onlineangebot der Geschichtswissenschaft stellen dabei Rezensionsjournale dar. Ziel der folgenden Ausführungen ist es, einen Überblick über die wichtigsten Rezensionsjournale zu geben, nämlich >sehepunkte< und die Rezensionsabteilung von H-Soz-u-Kult, die auch als >Historische Literatur» in Hybridform erscheint, sowie die Rezensionssuchmaschine von Clio-online.

- Abstract
- Am Beispiel der Zentralbibliothek der Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH wird der Paradigmenwechsel bibliographischer Alltagsroutine zwischen 1978 und 1998 vorgestellt. Vor dem Hintergrund der veränderten Informationstechnologie der letzten 20 Jahre werden einerseits die eingesetzten Nachweisinstrumente und deren Evolution beschrieben, andererseits die Veränderungen der konkreten Arbeitsprozesse beim Bibliographieren illustriert. Dabei wird ein Spektrum abgedeckt, das von gedruckten Bibliographien und Referateblättern über Mikrofiche und Magnetbänder, Online- und CD-ROM-Datenbanken bis zum "WeltWideWeb" reicht. Wir zeigen, daß der bibliographische Arbeitsprozeß neu definiert werden muß, in seiner Grundfunktion aber nicht obsolet geworden ist

- Abstract
- Mit den Literaturnachweisen des OCLC PICA Partners - des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (GBV) - wird WorldCat um einen weiteren großen deutschen Datenbestand erweitert. Die entsprechende Rahmenvereinbarung zwischen der OCLC PICA GmbH und dem GBV wurde am anlässlich des OCLC PICA Partner Update Meetings in Oberhaching unterzeichnet. Nach Zustimmung durch die betroffenen Bibliotheken werden ca. 22 Mio. Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert. Dazu gehören die Bestände der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz einschließlich Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin und aller Hochschulbibliotheken in den sieben zum GBV gehörenden Bundesländern. OCLC wird diese Daten in Absprache mit den Bibliotheken kontrolliert an Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo weitergeben. Damit wird neben den Titel- und Besitznachweisen der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek eine weitere große deutsche Titelsammlung via Internet weltweit recherchierbar sein.

- Abstract
- Im Oktober 1997 nahm die Universitätsbibliothek Regensburg die Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) als neue kooperativ organisierte Dienstleistung mit anfangs einem Projektpartner in Betrieb. Zehn Jahre später ist sie in mehr als 400 Bibliotheken als Nutzerservice für wissenschaftliche Volltextzeitschriften im Einsatz. Darüber hinaus ist sie vielfältig mit anderen digitalen Diensten vernetzt und nicht zuletzt auch dadurch zu einem festen Bestandteil der digitalen Infrastruktur für die wissenschaftliche Literatur- und Informationsversorgung in Deutschland geworden. Die EZB findet nach wie vor große Akzeptanz bei ihren Nutzern. Allein im Jahr 2007 konnte sie mehr als 16 Millionen Titelnutzungen zählen.

- Abstract
- In dieser Arbeit wird das VD 17-Projekt vorgestellt. Der Erörterung des Themas ist zunächst ein kurzer Exkurs in die Entwicklungsgeschichte des Projekts vorangestellt, um einen Überblick über die Vorgeschichte und Planungsohasen des Projekts zu gewähren. Im Mittelpunkt stehen daher 4 Aspekte: zunächst wird der Inhalt des Verzeichnisses anhand des geographischen Umfangskonzeptes, der inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte der Teilnehmerbibliotheken sowie durch die inhaltlichen Erschließung und die dafür angeandten Regelwerke. - Produzenten bibliographischer Daten wie Bibliotheken, Verlage, Universitäten, Wissenschaftler oder soziale, webbasierte Literaturverwaltungsplattformen spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Entwicklung menschlichen Wissens. Damit ihre Arbeit der Gesellschaft in vollem Umfang zugutekommt, ist es zwingend erforderlich, bibliographische Daten zu öffnen, das heißt für alle zur beliebigen Nutzung frei verfügbar zu machen.

- "Bibliographische Daten Um den Geltungsbereich der Prinzipien festzulegen, wird in diesem ersten Teil der zugrundeliegende Begriff bibliographischer Daten erläutert. Kerndaten Bibliographische Daten bestehen aus bibliographischen Beschreibungen. Eine bibliographische Beschreibung beschreibt eine bibliographische Ressource (Artikel, Monographie etc. - ob gedruckt oder elektronisch) zum Zwecke 1. der Identifikation der beschriebenen Ressource, d.h. des Zeigens auf eine bestimmte Ressource in der Gesamtheit aller bibliographischer Ressourcen und 2. der Lokalisierung der beschriebenen Ressource, d.h. eines Hinweises, wo die beschriebene Ressource aufzufinden ist. Traditionellerweise erfüllte eine Beschreibung beide Zwecke gleichzeitig, indem sie Information lieferte über: Autor(en) und Herausgeber, Titel, Verlag, Veröffentlichungsdatum und -ort, Identifizierung des übergeordneten Werks (z.B. einer Zeitschrift), Seitenangaben. Im Web findet Identifikation statt mittels Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs) wie z.B. URNs oder DOIs. Lokalisierung wird ermöglicht durch HTTP-URIs, die auch als Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) bezeichnet werden. Alle URIs für bibliographische Ressourcen fallen folglich unter den engen Begriff bibliographischer Daten. Sekundäre Daten Eine bibliographische Beschreibung kann andere Informationen enthalten, die unter den Begriff bibliographischer Daten fallen, beispielsweise Nicht-Web-Identifikatoren (ISBN, LCCN, OCLC etc.), Angaben zum Urheberrechtsstatus, administrative Daten und mehr; diese Daten können von Bibliotheken, Verlagen, Wissenschaftlern, Online-Communities für Buchliebhaber, sozialen Literaturverwaltungssystemen und Anderen produziert sein. Darüber hinaus produzieren Bibliotheken und verwandte Institutionen kontrollierte Vokabulare zum Zwecke der bibliographischen Beschreibung wie z. B. Personen- und Schlagwortnormdateien, Klassifikationen etc., die ebenfalls unter den Begriff bibliographischer Daten fallen."
