- Abstract
- In dem Beitrag wird ein knapper Überblick über verschiedene Projekte deutscher wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken gegeben, welche mit unterschiedlichen Zielen und Konzepten zum Aufbau digitaler Bibliotheken beitragen. Es werden dabei 3 Bereiche unterschieden: Der Aufbau von Zugangssystemen zu elektronischen Fachinformationen, elektronische Dokumentlieferdienste und digital Dokumente im engeren Sinne. Erschließungssysteme für elektronische Fachinformationen werden in folgenden Projekten entwickelt: SSG-Fachinformation der SUB Göttingen, IBIS der UB Bielefeld und Gerhard des BIS Oldenburg. An elektronischen Dokumentlieferdiensten werden thematisiert: Das Online-Fernleihsystem des GBV, JASOB-NRW, TIBQUICK 2000 der TIB/UB Hannover und OMNIS/Myriad. Retrodigitalisierung gedruckter Dokumente wird im Rahmen der 'Verteilten digitalen Forschungsbibliothek' durchgeführt, während im WebDOC-Projekt ein umfassendes Konzept für die Administration elektronischer Dokumente durch Bibliotheken entwickelt wurde. Ein vergleichbares Konzept wird im Projekt MEDOC für den Bereich der Informatik erarbeitet

- Abstract
- Vom 12. bis 14. November 2003 fand die nun schon 7. InetBib-Tagung statt. Der Reigen der jährlich statt findenden Veranstaltungen (nur 2001 gab es eine Pause) begann 1996 in Dortmund. Diesmal wurde das Kongresszentrum der Deutschen Bibliothek in Frankfurt am Main als Veranstaltungsort gewählt, eine glückliche Entscheidung: Der Vortragsraum hatte für die ca. 300 Teilnehmer/innen aus allen deutschsprachigen Ländern und einigen Nachbarstaaten die richtige Größe, die Aussteller waren nicht zu weit weg vom Hörsaal und fanden in den beiden Standbereichen guten Zuspruch; es gab keine verlorenen Ecken. Die Organisation war ein gutes Beispiel, wie quasi mit Hausmitteln - also ohne eine Auftragsvergabe an einen speziellen Kongressveranstalter - ein schon zu den größeren im Fachgebiet zählendes Ereignis professionell durchgeführt werden kann; das Engagement der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter der ddb als Hausherrin, aber auch der Mit-Organisatoren (UB Dortmund, Deutsches Institut für Internationale Pädagogische Forschung -dipf-, StUB Frankfurt/Main, Stadtbücherei Frankfurt/Main) war zu spüren und wurde von den Besucher/innen immer wieder positiv vermerkt. Dies galt ebenso für die Vorträge wie für angelagerten sozialen Programme.

- Abstract
- Die durch das WWW gegebenen Möglichkeiten, von den Suchergebnissen einer Datenbank über Hyperlinks auf elektronische Volltexte zuzugreifen, einzelne Titel online zu bestellen oder mit anderen Datenbanken oder Katalogen zu verknüpfen, werden mittlerweile von vielen Datenbankanbietern genutzt oder standardmässig angeboten. Das hier besprochene Linksystem weist dieselben Möglichkeiten auf und verbindet Suchergebnisse mit lokal verfügbaren elektronischen Zeitschriften bzw. mit Bibliotheks-Katalogen. Auch eine automatische Bestellfunktion ist vorhanden. Dieses auf Javascript basierende Linksystem verwendet ein einfaches, bisher aber noch wenig bekanntes Verfahren, bei dem jeweils die gesamte Ergebnisliste einer Datenbank (50 bis 200 Titel) in das Texteingabefeld eines Formulars eingefügt und dann weiter mit Javascript bearbeitet wird. Vorteilhaft ist die gross Anpassungsfähigkeit des Programms an die speziellen oder sogar individuellen Bedürfnisse. Medline-LINK wendet dieses Linkverfahren auf die besonders effiziente und zudem entgeltfreie Datenbank PubMed an. In dieser Testversion bilden die von der UB Regensburg abonnierten E-Zeitschriften zusätzlich eines großen Teils von elsevier-Zeitschriften den Grundbestand der zu verknüpfenden Zeitschriften. Über die dynamisch ermittelte ISSN kann die Verbindung von der Ergebnisanzeige zu den Bestandsanzeigen des BVB und GBV hergestellt werden. Die automatische Bestellfunktion wird am Beispiel des Fernleihbestellformulars der UB Regensburg demonstriert

- Abstract
- Die Digitale Bibliothek hat viele Gesichter und viele Funktionen, Kein des Begriffs ist die Aufbereitung, Zugänglichkeit und Verarbeitung von digitalen - aber auch nichtdigitalen - Quellen. Das Management von elektronischen Informationsressourcen birgt neue Strukturen, neue Paradigmen, neue Arbeitsweisen und neue Informationsvermittlungsmethoden. Noch einer Übersicht über die Begriffsbestimmung "Digitale Bibliothek" werden die Forschungsprogramme und Förderansätze hinsichtlich digitaler Bibliotheksprojekte in den USA, Europa, Asien und Ozeanien dargestellt. Einzelne Aspekte der digitalen Bibliothek werden dann näher erläutert wie die Architektur der digitalen Bibliothek, Metadaten, Dokumentenerstellung, Interoperability, Gateways - Clearinghouses etc., Paradigmenverschiebung, elektronische Zeitschriften, Informationsvermittlung, Abrechungsmodalitäten, Archivierung etc. Weiterhin wird überlegt, was die künftigen Implikationen der Informationseuphorie bzw des "dato smog" sind, wie der Wissenschaftlerarbeitsplatz aussieht und weiche Rolle Bibliothek und Bibliothekare in der Informationsversorgung künftig haben

- Abstract
- Dieser Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit den Grundsätzen der Informationsarchitektur im World Wide Web. Es werden die Faktoren dargestellt, die bei der Planung der Informationsarchitektur einer Website bedacht werden sollten. Sie erleichtern es dem Nutzer, Information zu finden und aufzunehmen. Eine Voraussetzung ist, die Struktur in der Konzeptionsphase zu optimieren, um eine nutzerfreundliche, erfolgreiche Website zu gestalten. Darüber hinaus werden Kriterien für die Navigation und das Labelsystem beschrieben, auf die Problematik der Suchfunktion eingegangen und das komplexe Thema der Metadaten und kontrollierten Vokabulare angerissen.
