Dem Zweck eines Handbuches entsprechend, werden wesentliche Daten und Grundlagen der Regensburger Verbundklassifikation beschrieben und miteinander verknüpft. - Erfolgsgeschichte der RVK - In einer komprimierten Einführung rekapituliert Bernd Lorenz die Genese der Regensburger Aufstellungssystematik und des späteren Klassifikationsverbundes, er beschreibt Aufbau und Inhalt der Klassifikation, und er beleuchtet Voraussetzungen, Prinzipien und Resultate der klassifikatorischen Sacherschließung im Verbund. Hier sei festgehalten, dass die spätere RVK nach gescheiterten konsortialen Bemühungen um eine bundesweit anerkannte Einheitsklassifikation in den Sechzigerjahren an der Universitätsbibliothek Regensburg als Haussystematik in Anlehnung an die LCC geschaffen wurde.
