    Abstract
Criticizes the current processes of information management, with the objective of arriving at a new concept of the electronic document. Discusses problems of human language in the context of information management. Examines the problem of information from the point of view of the structure of knowledge, by analysing dysfunction in current processes of information management. Proposes a model of knowledge nearer to the human mind called 'document hypertext'. A combined interface of information management id also applicable in studies of hardware, graphic interfaces and metaphors of visualization of information. The current excessive fragmentation and artificial treatment of information structures could be avoided by simplifying of processes of information management and creating integral interfaces that bring information systems closer to the user

    Abstract
Hypermedia offers opportunities for improved presentation and use of information. Authors can allow readers to select the types of information they want to see and the order in which they see it. Discusses some of the issues of balance that must be understood - the trade-offs between allowing readers too little freedom to explore, and allowing them more freedom than may be wise. Authros should analyze the bounds of the information made available, the links between pieces of information, and the paths that users can choose to follow when using the information. To achieve the proper balance, authors must not only understand the material they are presenting, they must also understand their audience and the way that the audience will use the information

    Abstract
Discusses a new approach to information systems, the hypertext functionality approach. This focuses on incorporating hypertext features into information systems providing users with an alternative way of organizing, analysing and accessing information. Hypertext functionality is seen as a value-added support functionality for information systems, allowing the documents to be investigated in a non-linrea, semi-structured way. A core hypertext functionality applicable to any information system is presented here, driven from general hypetext concepts. Different implementation possibilities are also discussed

    Abstract
Provides a quick summary of the historical development of hypertext/hypermedia. Discusses hypermedia's place in today's dynamic information environment, the potential problem with hypertext/hypermedia systems, and the effect of new technological developments on hypermedia application. Describes PROJECT EMPEROR-I, a hypermedia R&D project and discusses the potential of this type of application for librarians, information professionals, and education media specialists.

    Abstract
Introduces what automatic authoring of a hypertext for information retrieval means. The most difficult part of the automatic construction of a hypertext is the creation of links connecting documents or document fragments that are related. Becaus of this, to many researchers it seemed natural to use information retrieval techniques for this purpose, since information retrieval has always dealt with the construction of relationships between objects mutually relevant. Presents a survey of some of the attempts toward the automatic construction of hypertexts for information retrieval. Identifies and compares scope, advantages and limitations of different approaches. Points out the main and most successful current lines of research

    Abstract
Hypertext for multi-media and full-text documents is rapidly developed on all fronts. For bibliographic information retrieval the applications are promising but pose several difficulties. Describes work conducted at the School of Library and Information Science at Univ. of Western Ontario the objective of which is to add the capability of a browsing search to an existing OPAC through the use of Windowed Hypertext Interface for Zippy Retrieval and Display (WHIZRD) software. Discusses the underlying retrieval capabilities of the system. Examines design problems and solutions and outlines future enhancements

    Abstract
The paper consists of a series of charts and diagrams rather than a text. Considers the way in which users of printed information sources develop a mental map to assist them in navigation and transfers the psychological concepts underlying the development of such mental maps to the design of hypertext searching systems for computerized information retrieval

    Abstract
Discusses the potential of hypertext for creating all manner of information resources to fill the gaps where free text and structured database systems are inappropriate. Describes the tools required to create and distribute a variety of hypertext information resources, all available, affordable and easy to use. These include: the Microsoft Windows graphical user interface and Windows help system and special features offered: a Rich Text Format word processing program (Word for Windows) and Microsoft Windows Help Compiler for authoring Windows Help hyperdocuments; and the OrgMap Help data file. Outlines the limitations of hypüerdocument information resources
