- Am 6. Februar 2003 gab Hans Olaf Henkel, Präsident der Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Leibniz, im Rahmen einer Pressekonferenz in der ZBMed den offiziellen Startschuss zur Eröffnung des neuen medizinischen Informationsportals unter <http://www.MedPilot.de>. MedPilot ist speziell auf die Bedürfnisse von Ärzten, Wissenschaftlern und Medizinstudenten zugeschnitten und ermöglicht die schnelle und einfache Nutzung des umfangreichen Informationsangebots der Deutschen Zentralbibliothek komplette Liste der gefundenen Informationen und die dazu gehörigen Abstracts. Bei der differenzierteren Profi-Recherche sind Autor, Titel, Erscheinungsjahr usw. einzeln recherchierbar und die einzubeziehenden Datenbanken können gezielt ausgewählt werden. Bei Verfügbarkeit ist direkt anschließend an die Recherche auch die Bestellung der Originalliteratur bei der ZBMed oder einer anderen Bibliothek möglich. Der Onlinezugriff auf den kompletten Artikel ist für Zeitschriften aus den Verlagen Thieme, Springer und medizinische Bibliothek Europas. Ihre Aufgabe ist die Beschaffung, Erschließung und Bereitstellung von wissenschaftlicher Literatur und anderer Medien zu allen Fachgebieten der Humanmedizin, zum Gesundheitswesen, sowie zur Ernährung und Umwelt. Die ZBMed ist eine Serviceeinrichtung in der Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Leibniz.

- Abstract
- From 4 to 6 June 2003 the 2nd European Library Seminar / 3rd Gabriel Workshop was held at the Biblioteca Nacional in Lisbon, Portugal. 62 librarians and webmasters from 20 countries participated in the workshop, mainly Gabriel contacts but also quite a number of librarians from Portugal. Since its foundation in 1995 Gabriel, the world wide web service of the European national libraries, has established itself as the official network service of the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL) and has undergone a continuous development. The Gabriel website has been redesigned and restructured, and it was relaunched in summer 2002. At present, 41 libraries from 39 European countries are represented in Gabriel. Gabriel offers access to varied information sources and numerous online-catalogues and Services of the European national libraries. Gabriel is the only trans-European library service.

- Abstract
- Eine Vielzahl von Bibliotheken aus dem Bereich der Obersten Bundesbehörden wird ihren Kunden bis Ende des Jahres 2003 ein gemeinsames Bibliotheksportal mit einem behördenübergreifenden Informations- und Dienstleistungsangebot präsentieren. Die Mitarbeiter in den Behörden bekommen über eine einheitlich strukturierte Portaloberfläche einen koordinierten Zugang zu dem breiten Spektrum an Informationsinhalten und -dienste, das die beteiligten Bibliotheken anzubieten haben. Ziel der Bibliotheken ist es, mit dem Bibliotheksportal ein Kompetenzzentrum für die Obersten Bundesbehörden im IVBB zu schaffen, das sich durch eine benutzerfreundliche, effektive und von einer hohen Qualität geprägten Informationsversorgung auszeichnet.

- MedPilot (www.medpilot.de) ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Deutschen Zentralbibliothek für Medizin (ZBMed) und des Deutschen Instituts für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information (DIMDI). Im Rahmen der Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken wird MedPilot von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördert. MedPilot basiert auf der Software SISIS-Elektra, welche im Rahmen des Projektes weiterentwickelt wurde. Projektstart im August 2001, Testbetrieb seit Juli 2002, offizielle Eröffnung im Februar 2003
