- Abstract
- Mit dem Beschluss des Standardisierungsausschusses vom Mai 2012, den Standard Resource Description and Access (RDA) im deutschsprachigen Raum einzuführen, wurde eine Arbeitsgruppe RDA für die kooperative Durchführung der Implementierung in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz eingerichtet. Diese Arbeitsgruppe hat nun einen aktualisierten Gesamtzeitplan für das RDA-Projekt vorgelegt, dem der Standardisierungsausschuss im Oktober 2013 einstimmig zugestimmt hat. Einzelne Arbeitspakete wurden neu berechnet und die Gesamtlaufzeit des Projekts wurde um ein halbes Jahr verlängert. Die Normdaten der Gemeinsamen Normdatei (GND) werden nun ab Juli 2014 nach RDA erfasst und die Katalogisierung für den Bereich der Titeldaten wird Ende des Jahres 2015 beginnen. - Abstract
- The implementation of Resource Description and Access (RDA) in 2013 or after will have a powerful impact on the skill set required of new library and information science professionals. This article chronicles the development of an RDA "boot camp" at UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science. Curriculum for the three-hour camp included a review of relevant theoretical frameworks and a hands-on exercise creating RDA records. Findings from a post-boot camp survey point to areas for further growth in cataloging and metadata course development and suggest that students are eager for more practical experience with emerging schema.

- "Für die kooperative Umsetzung innerhalb der im Standardisierungsausschuss vertretenen Institutionen wurde im Sommer 2012 eine Arbeitsgruppe RDA gegründet. Zu einer ihrer ersten Aufgaben gehörte die Erstellung eines Gesamtzeitplans für den Umstieg aller am Projekt beteiligten Partner. Dieser Zeitplan wurde im Januar 2013 vorgelegt. Er markiert den Anfang und das Ende aller Arbeitspakete und sieht einen Abschluss des Projekts RDA für Mitte 2015 vor. Die letzten drei Monate des Projekts, April bis Juni 2015, sind als Übergangszeit ausgewiesen. In dieser dreimonatigen Phase führen die deutschsprachigen Verbünde inklusive der Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) sukzessive die RDA für die Verbundkatalogisierung ein. Dazu kommen die übrigen im Standardisierungsausschuss vertretenen Institutionen, soweit sie die Einführung von RDA nicht schon zu einem früheren Zeitpunkt vollzogen haben. Folgende Arbeitspakete wurden beschrieben:
1. Grundsatzentscheidungen und Erarbeitung der deutschen RDA-Anwendungsbestimmungen: Im Zeitraum Oktober 2012 bis Dezember 2013 werden die grundsätzlichen Entscheidungen für die kooperative Erfassung nach RDA im deutschsprachigen Raum getroffen und Anwendungsbestimmungen formuliert und abgestimmt. 2. Testphase Regelwerk: Von Juli 2013 bis Juli 2014 sollen im Anschluss an die erste Phase des Regelwerkgesamtdurchgangs und die Ausformulierung der Anwendungsbestimmungen eine Testphase zur Erprobung der gemachten Vereinbarungen und ein Praxistest für die Katalogisierung nach RDA angeschlossen werden. 3. Normdaten: In diesem von der Unterarbeitsgruppe Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND) durchgeführten Arbeitspaket werden von November 2012 bis Dezember 2013 die GND-Übergangsregeln gesichtet, noch fehlende Regelungen erarbeitet und die Erfassungsrichtlinien für die GND und die GND-Schulungsunterlagen an- gepasst. Ebenfalls in diesem Arbeitspaket werden die Schulungen für den Bereich Normdaten ausgearbeitet und die Schulungen durchgeführt. 4. Implementierung: Diese Aktivität, die im Oktober 2013 beginnen soll und bis zum Ende des Projekts andauert, umfasst die technische Implementierung einschließlich der Lokalsysteme. Grundsatzentscheidungen zu Datenformat und Datenstruktur sind Bestandteil von Arbeitspaket 1.
5. Schulungsunterlagen und Schulungen: Dieses Arbeitspaket beginnt im Oktober 2013 und endet mit dem Abschluss des Projekts. Es umfasst sowohl die Erstellung und Erprobung von Schulungsunterlagen als auch die Durchführung von Schulungen und Infoveranstaltungen. Die Ausbildungseinrichtungen sollen in diesen Prozess einbezogen werden.
