- Abstract
- Mit den Literaturnachweisen des OCLC PICA Partners - des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (GBV) - wird WorldCat um einen weiteren großen deutschen Datenbestand erweitert. Die entsprechende Rahmenvereinbarung zwischen der OCLC PICA GmbH und dem GBV wurde am anlässlich des OCLC PICA Partner Update Meetings in Oberhaching unterzeichnet. Nach Zustimmung durch die betroffenen Bibliotheken werden ca. 22 Mio. Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert. Dazu gehören die Bestände der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz einschließlich Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin und aller Hochschulbibliotheken in den sieben zum GBV gehörenden Bundesländern. OCLC wird diese Daten in Absprache mit den Bibliotheken kontrolliert an Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo weitergeben. Damit wird neben den Titel- und Besitznachweisen der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek eine weitere große deutsche Titelsammlung via Internet weltweit recherchierbar sein.

- Abstract
- Ab dem Jahr 2007 steht "Das Schweizer Buch", die Schweizerische Nationalbibliografie, auf zwei Arten elektronisch zur Verfügung: in der dynamischen Online-Version mit erweiterten Recherchemöglichkeiten abfragbar über den Bibliothekskatalog Helveticat, Inbetriebnahme Januar 2006, sowie in der statischen PDF-Ausgabe, Inbetriebnahme Januar 20074. Der Zugriff auf die elektronischen Versionen ist passwortfrei und kostenlos. Die Druckausgabe der Nationalbibliografie wurde nach 106 Jahrgängen unter der Redaktion der Nationalbibliothek (NB) eingestellt. Die seit 1943 bestehende Namensgebung der Nationalbibliografie "Das Schweizer Buch = Le Livre suisse = Il libro svizzero" bleibt sowohl für die dynamische als auch für die statische Ausgabe erhalten. Ab 2001 erscheint das Schweizer Buch in fünf Sprachen, die hinzukommenden Paralleltitel lauten: "Il cudesch svizzer = The Swiss book". Nebst der seit 1901 ausgeführten redaktionellen Betreuung wurde die NB ab 2001 auch die Herausgeberin des Schweizer Buchs. Von 1943 bis 2001 hatte der SBVV, der Schweizerische Buchhändler- und Verleger-Verband, die Funktion des Verlegers der Nationalbibliografie inne. Die NB verfolgt eine landeskundliche und territoriale Konzeption ihrer Bibliografie, eine Aufgabe, die bundesrechtlich verankert ist: "Die Nationalbibliothek hat zur Aufgabe, gedruckte oder auf anderen Informationsträgern gespeicherte Informationen, die einen Bezug zur Schweiz haben, zu sammeln, zu erschließen, zu erhalten und zu vermitteln. Dazu gehört auch die schweizerische Buchproduktion oder, heutig ausgedrückt, die gesamte schweizerische Medienproduktion.

Wiesenmüller): "Im Jahr 1999 legte Friedrich Nestler, der frühere Direktor des Instituts für Bibliothekswissenschaft an der Humboldt-Universität, eine viel beachtete Neubearbeitung von Georg Schneiders »Handbuch der Bibliographie« (1. Auflage 1923) vor. Konsequenterweise hat er nun auch Schneiders »Einführung in die Bibliographie« (1936) bearbeitet. Bei diesem Text handelte es sich ursprünglich um den theoretischen Teil des »Handbuchs«, der bei den Rezensenten auf wenig Anklang gestoßen war. Für die 4. Auflage (1930) wurde er gestrichen, erschien jedoch sechs Jahre später in umgearbeiteter Form als eigenständige Publikation. In Schneider sieht Nestler einen direkten Vorgänger für seine - nicht zuletzt durch die Forschung in der DDR geprägte - Sichtweise der Bibliographie als ein »soziales Phänomen« (Seite IX), das sich »aus der kommunikativen Funktion der verzeichneten Texte ergibt« (Seite 28). Theoretische Modelle der Bibliographie machen denn auch den größten Teil des ersten Hauptkapitels aus. Dieses trägt zwar noch dieselbe Überschrift (»Begriff der Bibliographie«) wie bei Schneider, ist aber von 5 auf über 60 Seiten angewachsen und beinhaltet nun weit mehr als nur die Wortgeschichte. In einem Abschnitt zur bibliothekarischen Ausbildung kritisiert Nestler - ganz zu Recht - die traditionelle Vermittlung des Themas Bibliographie als bloße Abfolge einer langen Reihe bibliographischer Hilfsmittel, deren Charakteristika Stück für Stück zu erlernen sind. Dass das Aufkommen der elektronischen Medien hier zu einem »Wechsel der Optik« (Seite 16) geführt habe und seitdem mehr Wert auf eine theoretische Grundlage gelegt werde, kann die Rezensentin aus ihrer eigenen Erfahrung allerdings nicht bestätigen. ... Insgesamt gesehen bleibt die Neubearbeitung an vielen Stellen unbefriedigend. Dennoch ist es zu begrüßen, dass sie überhaupt erschienen ist: Gerade weil man sich an manchem reiben kann, könnte Nestlers Arbeit Anlass sein, sich von neuem mit dem Thema Bibliographie zu beschäftigen."

- Abstract
- Hintergrund Seit 1993 bietet die Saarländische Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (SULB) den Angehörigen der Universität des Saarlandes (UdS) die Möglichkeit, wissenschaftliche Publikationen in einer Online-Jahresbibliographie zu verzeichnen. Schon seit dem Jahr 1968 existierte eine gedruckte Fassung der Jahresbibliographie, die Veröffentlichungen der Angehörigen der Universität des Saarlandes, seit 1973 auch die der anderen Hochschulen des Saarlandes, verzeichnete. Als Printausgabe erschien sie zuletzt im Jahr 2000. Die alte Online-Version beinhaltet die Titel ab dem Berichtsjahr 1993 sowie Nachträge aus früheren Jahren. Mit Beginn des Jahres 2006 wurde bei der SULB als Betreiberin der Jahresbibliographie ein deutlicher Schnitt gemacht: Das bewährte alte, auf hierarchischer HTML-Navigation basierende System, das in den Jahren 1993 bis 2005 zirka 100.000 Titelmeldungen aufnahm, wurde durch ein flexibleres, datenbankgestütztes System ersetzt, das es in Zukunft erleichtern wird, die Jahresbibliographie als Instrument der Evaluierung heranzuziehen. Seit November 2000 bietet die SULB den Wissenschaftlern der UdS auch die Möglichkeit, wissenschaftliche Publikationen als Volltext entgeltfrei auf dem Institutional Repository SciDok Open Access konform zur Verfügung zu stellen. SciDok und auch PsyDok, das Disciplinary Repository der SULB für die Psychologie-Community, werden mit der an der Universität Stuttgart entwickelten Software OPUS betrieben. Seit Januar 2006 wird nun auch die Jahresbibliographie der UdS mit OPUS betrieben.
