    Abstract

    Abstract
The author stresses the need for a general, overall theory of cognitive psychological processes for cognitive science. The relevance of the Graz-school theorie on the 'production of ideas' is then examined as an attempt to provide such a framework. In Graz-school, at the beginning of 20th century, representation ('Vorstellung') was the foundational aspect of all the cognitive processes. As an example of an analysis of the origin of representation Stephan Witasek's theory of sensation is surveyed. The explanation of the origin of representations is also theoretically and practically important for cognitive science

    Abstract
This dissertation aims at representing concepts of medical subjects as well as statements on medical subjects independent of medical terminology, in order to overcome the problems of interpretation and further elaboration of entries in an ordering system such as SNOMED, MeSH-Thesaurus or ICD Classification. The approach of a compositional, semantic language analysis developed here implies specific demands from a conceptual modelling and utilizes the following methods: (1) a characteristics-based grammar formalism for represenatation of terminological structures, to be analyzed, (2) a terminological representation formalism for a conceptual-intensionally-oriented representation of a concept system, and (3) a modified chart-parser for grammatical derivation

    Abstract

    Abstract
The new forms of multimedia information and reference materials require an analysis of the concept of knowledge representation and how knowledge can be extracted from them. Compares these concepts with a model of human information processing and knowledge representation which is based on communication oriented concepts. Proposes a typology of general reference materials based upon this comparison. Original abstract
