    Abstract
    Discusses the human-computer interface for information retrieval and notes that research on human-computer interface design has generated many widely-accepted principles of interface design which should be of interest and value to designers of information retrieval systems. Work on display features such as highlighting, colour, icons, and windows has received considerable attention. research has also focused on how the user interacts with the system, whether by commands, menus, or direct manipulation. Studies of interfaces for information retrieval systems reveal that online searching has emphasised developments of front ends, with some novel uses of graphics. CD-ROM and optical media are characterised by interface diversity, again with some inclusion of graphic interfaces. Online catalogues and full text data bases have provided interesting comparisons of mode of interaction

    Abstract
    The purpose of this selected bibliography is to introduce issues and problems in relation to thesaurus construction and to present a set of readings that may be used in practical thesaurus design. The concept of thesaurus is discussed, the purpose of the thesaurus and how the concept has evolved over the years according to new IR technologies. Different approaches to thesaurus construction are introduced, and readings dealing with specific problems and developments in the collection, formation and organisation of thesaurus concepts and terms are presented. Primarily manual construction methods are discussed, but the bibliography also refers to research about techniques for automatic thesaurus construction.

    Abstract
    A systematic literature review is carried out, detailing the research topics and the methods and techniques used in information science in studies published between 2000 and 2019. The results obtained allow us to affirm that there is no consensus on the core topics of information science, as these evolve and change dynamically in relation to other disciplines, and with the dominant social and cultural contexts. With regard to the research methods and techniques, it can be stated that they have mostly been adopted from social sciences, with the addition of numerical methods, especially in the fields of bibliometric and scientometric research.

    Presents a state of the art review of the underlying theories of and analysis methods used to study the ways in which users (end users) receive and interpret information through information retrieval systems and looks at the potential for refining theories and adopting new analysis methods. Focuses on approaches that advocate the user centred perspective, including: the cognitive approach; and the holistic approach. Identifies and summarizes the significant studies and ideas since 1986 that are represented by these approaches and looks toward the design of more effective systems that are user oriented and incorporate features such as filtering that would provide retrieval results based on individual or group preferences. Concludes that systems designed from the user centred perspective would not only serve the intended audience but would further the user centred perspective of the entire information retrieval discipline

    State of the art review of the recently developed concepts of data mining (defined as the automated process of evaluating data and finding relationships) and knowledge discovery (defined as the automated process of extracting information, especially unpredicted relationships or previously unknown patterns among the data) with particular reference to numerical data. Includes: the knowledge acquisition process; data mining; evaluation methods; and knowledge discovery. Concludes that existing work in the field are confusing because the terminology is inconsistent and poorly defined.
