    Abstract
    Predicting a researcher's knowledge trajectories beyond their current foci can leverage potential inter-/cross-/multi-disciplinary interactions to achieve exploratory innovation. In this study, we present a method of diffusion-based network analytics for knowledge trajectory recommendation. The method begins by constructing a heterogeneous bibliometric network consisting of a co-topic layer and a co-authorship layer. A novel link prediction approach with a diffusion strategy is then used to capture the interactions between social elements (e.g., collaboration) and knowledge elements (e.g., technological similarity) in the process of exploratory innovation. This diffusion strategy differentiates the interactions occurring among homogeneous and heterogeneous nodes in the heterogeneous bibliometric network and weights the strengths of these interactions. Two sets of experiments-one with a local dataset and the other with a global dataset-demonstrate that the proposed method is prior to 10 selected baselines in link prediction, recommender systems, and upstream graph representation learning. A case study recommending knowledge trajectories of information scientists with topical hierarchy and explainable mediators reveals the proposed method's reliability and potential practical uses in broad scenarios.

    Abstract
    Knowledge-enhanced short-text matching has been a significant task attracting much attention in recent years. However, the existing approaches cannot effectively balance effect and efficiency. Effective models usually consist of complex network structures leading to slow inference speed and the difficulties of applications in actual practice. In addition, most knowledge-enhanced models try to link the mentions in the text to the entities of the knowledge graphs-the difficulties of entity linking decrease the generalizability among different datasets. To address these problems, we propose a lightweight Semantic-Enhanced Interactive Network (SEIN) model for efficient short-text matching. Unlike most current research, SEIN employs an unsupervised method to select WordNet's most appropriate paraphrase description as the external semantic knowledge. It focuses on integrating semantic information and interactive information of text while simplifying the structure of other modules. We conduct intensive experiments on four real-world datasets, that is, Quora, Twitter-URL, SciTail, and SICK-E. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, SEIN achieves the best performance on most datasets. The experimental results proved that introducing external knowledge could effectively improve the performance of the short-text matching models. The research sheds light on the role of lightweight models in leveraging external knowledge to improve the effect of short-text matching.

    Abstract
    Diachronic word embeddings-vector representations of words over time-offer remarkable insights into the evolution of language and provide a tool for quantifying sociocultural change from text documents. Prior work has used such embeddings to identify shifts in the meaning of individual words. However, simply knowing that a word has changed in meaning is insufficient to identify the instances of word usage that convey the historical meaning or the newer meaning. In this study, we link diachronic word embeddings to documents, by situating those documents as leaders or laggards with respect to ongoing semantic changes. Specifically, we propose a novel method to quantify the degree of semantic progressiveness in each word usage, and then show how these usages can be aggregated to obtain scores for each document. We analyze two large collections of documents, representing legal opinions and scientific articles. Documents that are scored as semantically progressive receive a larger number of citations, indicating that they are especially influential. Our work thus provides a new technique for identifying lexical semantic leaders and demonstrates a new link between progressive use of language and influence in a citation network.

    Abstract
    Local and regional authority files exist to cover gaps in national and international authority files. These types of authority files should not exist alone if they are going to be fully utilized by other institutions that may have resources about the same individuals or topics. This article discusses how the Western Name Authority File, a regional controlled vocabulary of personal names and corporate bodies, can link to larger authority files such as the Library of Congress Name Authority File and Wikidata. Workflows and issues encountered with linking this local authority file to larger authority files are discussed.

    Abstract
    Recent events reveal the potential for information technologies to threaten democratic participation and destabilize knowledge institutions. These are core concerns for researchers working within the area of critical information studies-yet these companies have also demonstrated novel tactics for obscuring their operations, reducing the ability of scholars to speak about how harms are perpetuated or to link them to larger systems. While scholars' methods and ethical conventions have historically privileged the agency of research participants, the current landscape suggests the value of exploring methods that would reveal actions that are purposefully hidden. We propose investigation as a model for critical information studies and review the methods and epistemological conventions of investigative journalists as a provocative example, noting that their orientation toward those in power enables them to discuss societal harms in ways that academic researchers often cannot. We conclude by discussing key topics, such as process accountability and institutional norms, that should feature in discussions of how academic researchers might position investigation in relation to their own work.

    Abstract
    Seit dem 30. November 2022 sind sog. "Chatbots" im Internet frei verfügbar - quasi als ansprechbarer "Avatar" für einen virtuellen "Dialog" zu einem (nahezu?) beliebigen Thema, so etwa derzeit (noch?) kostenfrei über den Link chatgpt.ch. Bereits die letzten beiden Ausgaben der Mitteilungen widmeten sich dem damit eröffnenden Themenkreis exemplarisch mit unterschiedlichen, z. T. verblüffenden Beispielen. Und sofort wurde (nicht nur mir) im Kontakt mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus Schule und Hochschule deutlich, dass sich hieraus Konsequenzen für künftige Prüfungsleistungen ergeben, etwa sogar in derart krasser Form, dass "häuslich erbrachte Leistungen nicht mehr bewertbar" seien. Solchen Diskussionen mit der Suche nach Lösungen und Konzepten wird nicht auszuweichen sein. In diesem Essay wird kurz der Bereich des Mathematikunterrichts an allgemeinbildenden Schulen angesprochen und dabei ein Vergleich mit der rund 30 Jahre alten didaktischen Diskussion zur sog. "Trivialisierung" des Mathematikunterrichts durch die damals aufkommenden Computeralgebrasysteme gezogen. Antworten dazu müssen in der nun anstehenden fachdidaktischen Diskussion gefunden werden. Der früher mal favorisierte und derzeit wohl kaum praktizierte "Mathematische Aufsatz" im Gymnasium wird angesichts von ChatGPT wohl definitiv nicht mehr möglich sein.

    Abstract
    In this study, we propose a way to link the scholarly contents of scientific papers by constructing a knowledge graph based on the semantic organization of argumentation units and relations in scientific papers. We carried out an argumentation graph data model aimed at linking multiple discourses, and also developed a semantic annotation platform for scientific papers and an argumentation graph visualization system. A construction experiment was performed using 12 articles. The final argumentation graph has 1,262 nodes and 1,628 edges, including 1,628 intra-article relations and 190 inter-article relations. Knowledge evolution representation, strategic reading, and automatic abstracting use cases are presented to demonstrate the application of the argumentation graph. In contrast to existing knowledge graphs used in academic fields, the argumentation graph better supports the organization and representation of scientific paper content and can be used as data infrastructure in scientific knowledge retrieval, reorganization, reasoning, and evolution. Moreover, it supports automatic abstract and strategic reading.

    Abstract
    When writing a research paper, the author has to select information to include in the paper to support various arguments. The information has to be organized and synthesized into a coherent whole through relationships and information structures. There is hardly any research on the information structure of research papers, and how information structure supports rhetorical and argument structures. Thus, this study is focused on information organization in the Abstract and Introduction sections of sociology research papers, analyzing the information structure of research objective, question, hypothesis, and result statements. The study is limited to research papers reporting research that investigated cause-effect relations between two concepts. Two semantic frames were developed to specify the types of information associated with cause-effect and comparison relations, and used as coding schemes to annotate the text for different information types. Six link patterns between the two frames were identified-showing how comparisons are used to support the claim that the cause-effect relation is valid. This study demonstrated how semantic frames can be incorporated in discourse analysis to identify deep structures underlying the argument structure. The results carry implications for the knowledge representation of academic research in knowledge graphs, for semantic relation extraction, and teaching of academic writing.
