    Abstract
    Review Global Explorer 1.0, a CD-ROM interactive atlas of the world. Global Explorer includes searchable references to more than 120.000 places and street maps of 100 cities throughout the world. The program also contains descriptions of 20.000 historical, cultural, geographical and social features and information on the geography, government, economy and population for each country of the world. The search process is described and the program evaluated. Although the user interface has some shortcomings and there are some errors in the database, Global Explorer is a unique and intersting way to explore the world and would be a beneficial additions to the map, public and school library

    Abstract
    Online collaborative projects have been utilized in a variety of ways over the past decade, such as bringing people together to build open source software or developing the world's largest free encyclopedia. Personal communication networks as a feature do not exist in all collaborative projects. It is currently unclear if a designer's decision to include a personal communication network in a collaborative project's structure affects outcome quality. In this study, I investigated Wikipedia's personal communication network and analyzed which Wikipedia editors are utilizing it and how they are connected to outcome quality. Evidence suggests that people who utilize these networks are more experienced in editing high quality articles and are more integrated in the community. Additionally, these individuals utilize the personal communication network for coordinating and perhaps mentoring editors who edit lower quality articles. The value of these networks is demonstrated by the characteristics of the users who use them. These findings indicate that designers of online collaborative projects can help improve the quality of outcomes in these projects by deciding to implement a personal communication network in their communities.

    Presents a study of 'channel repertoire' to information sources. Interviews 251 residents of Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho to assess their interest in sport and community activities and whether the source of such information was traditional such as television or radio, or technology based (VCR, PC). Allowing for demographic influences the study finds separate repertoires for each topic. Sports had only a traditional media repertoire that consisted of television and newspapers, while community events has a combination of traditional and technology based channels consisting of newspapers, radios, personal computers, and cellular telephones
