- Abstract
- Südtirol ist Teil der nördlichsten Region Italiens Trentino-Südtirol. Es besitzt aufgrund seiner Geschichte eine weitreichende politische wirtschaftliche und kulturelle Autonomie. Die Bevölkerung setzt sich aus Angehörigen von drei Sprachgruppen zusammen. Nach der letzten Volkszählung von 1991 gehören etwa 67 Prozent der Bevölkerung der deutschen Sprachgruppe an, 28 Prozent der italienischen und rund fünf Prozent der Iadinischen. Eine Folge der weitreichenden Autonomie ist die absolut zwingende Zweisprachigkeit (italienisch-deutsch) in allen öffentlichen Bereichen des Landes. Vor diesem Hintergrund muss auch die Arbeit der UB Bozen gesehen werden
