    Abstract
The vast, uncontrolled, mass of data available on the Internet poses specific problems for librarians, and in particular for cataloguers. In addition to problems of scale, quality and stability of the information available electronically, the British Library has concerns peculiar to a national archive. The Electronic Media Group (EMG) within the Cataloguing Department at the British Library has been addressing some of these issues while investigating the cataloguing of works in new forms. Outlines some of the problems addressed and gives brief overviews of similar work and experiments discivered by the EMG as being conducted by other cataloguers and information scientists in this field

    Abstract
Describes the establishment of the Task force on description of interactive media, under the auspices of the American Library Association's Committee on Cataloguing, Description and Access, which led ultimately to the development of the guidelines for bibliographic description of interactive multimedia. Notes the problems in identifying interactive multimedia and the level of detail often needed to describe them

    Abstract
In the years since the revised edition of chapter 9 of AACR2 has been in effect. Cataloguers have experienced a number of problems as they attempted to work within these rules. Reviews some of these problems and examines the adequacy of chapter 9 for providing current and future access to information in electronically readable form. As we move toward a non-print environment, the role of cataloguing will need to adjust in recognition of the unique feature of computer media

    Abstract
This report examines some of the technical problems of integrating a curriculum resource center into an academic library setting. Procedures for conducting an inventory of existing materials, processing multi-media and other non-print formats, and displaying and retrieving materials within a Web OPAC are discussed. An analysis of how cataloging staff can use the new ACRL standards to reshape how students and faculty access information resources is provided.

    Abstract
Considers the problem of applying standard concepts of cataloguing and bibliographic control to electronic media by studying the degree of fit between the Standford Integrated Digital Library Project (SDLP) and both the USMARC format and the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI). Notes the lack of fit of both USMARC and TEI but stresses the advantages of the latter due its lack of dependency on 3 digit tags and its use of SGML conventions

    Abstract
This comprehensive annotated webliography describes online cataloging resources that are free to use, currently updated, and of high quality. The major aim of this webliography is to provide assistance for catalogers who are new to the profession, unfamiliar with cataloging specific formats, or unable to access costly print and subscription resources. The annotated resources include general websites and webpages, databases, workshop presentations, streaming media, and local documentation. The scope of the webliography is limited to resources reflecting traditional cataloging practices using the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd edition, RDA: Resource Description and Access, and MAchine Readable Cataloging (MARC) standards. Non-MARC metadata schemas like Dublin Core are not covered. Most components of cataloging are represented in this webliography, such as authority control, classification, subject headings, and genre terms. Guidance also is provided for cataloging miscellaneous formats including sound and videorecordings, streaming media, e-books, video games, graphic novels, kits, rare materials, maps, serials, realia, government documents, and music.

    Abstract
First IFLA Meeting of Experts an an International Cataloguing Code«.

    Abstract
The Serials Cooperative Cataloging Program (SCCTP) is reviewed from the standpoint of a library educator. Although the demand for copy catalogers has declined in the era of digital information, the demand for original catalogers has remained constant due, in part, to the growth in titles in different media formats and different languages. Additionally linking to information housed externally or internally and embedding metadata tags for resource discovery are among the new tasks for organizers of information in the Internet era. Increasingly professional organizations are filling the need for continuing education and training for advanced-level catalogers. This article examines the SCCTP as a model for continuous professional development and concludes it is adaptable more generally.

    Abstract
Compares and contrasts the essential differences between traditional and digital information media, reexamines the role of OPACs, refines the definition of library catalogues, and advocates the addition of Internet resources within the OPAC. Describes the building of the Alex Catalog, as part of the Alcuin Project at North Carolina State University, a catalogue of Internet resources in the format of MARC format records. Concludes with a process for integrating the further inclusion of other Internet resources into OPACs as well as some of the obstacles such a process manifests
