    Abstract
The appropriateness of utilising a training resource programme consisting of a mix of media and technologies for the training of cataloguing students is evaluated. The findings from reported research and evaluation of the training resource programme made it possible to identify advantages and disadvantages of using such a programme. The results of the research enabled the researcher to derive guidelines for the design and development of a training resource programme consisting of a mix of media and technologies. The use of media and technologies, in a training research programme for cataloguing training, can be utilised in training cataloguing students in contact classes, distance education as well as in-service training.

    Abstract

    Abstract

    Abstract
Distance education involves delivering education through interactive telecommunications media. This interactive model of distance learning is not technically feasible yet, but transitional approaches are being pursued. Gives examples. Higher education needs to go along this road because of financial incentives. It will have fundamental impact on faculty as their visibility increases. Despite worries over the effectiveness of this education medium, the economic necessities will drive a move toward the distance education paradigm

    Abstract
Discussions of cataloging and metadata education are popular in social media outlets, scholarly literature, conference meetings, and so on. This article, the third installment of a longitudinal study on the state of information organization (IO) education, analyzes the recent literature to identify new and continuing themes related to IO education. It provides an overview of the curricula of the 58 library and information science graduate programs in the United States and Canada accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). It examines the current conditions in 2012-2013 and compares them to data from earlier studies. It provides an overview of the types of IO courses available, program requirements, the number of schools offering IO courses, and the number of schools teaching those courses.

    Abstract

    Abstract
The article describes the experiences and personal impressions of a young lecturer in teaching indexing and classification in the Bachelor programme »Library and Information Management« at the Stuttgart Media University (Hochschule der Medien, HdM). Although, in Germany, subject cataloguing is traditionally seen as the business of senior-level librarians, it still plays a major role in the education of upper-level librarians at the HdM. A sound knowledge of indexing and classification seems especially important as they bear the brunt of work at the reference desk, where questions on searching by subject abound. The courses aim at a healthy balance between theory and practice. Practical exercises (which unfortunately tend to be somewhat artificial) and field trips are part of the lectures. Optional courses can also involve project work. It is important to note that students are not only on the receiving end: They can also do valuable research for the library community, especially in their Bachelor theses. Contacts and communication between students and faculty of the HdM on the one hand and working librarians on the other should be upheld and even intensified, which makes networking a very useful skill for teaching staff.
