    Abstract
    Ontologien werden eingesetzt, um durch semantische Fundierung insbesondere für das Dokumentenretrieval eine grundlegend bessere Basis zu haben, als dies gegenwärtiger Stand der Technik ist. Vorgestellt wird eine an der FH Darmstadt entwickelte und eingesetzte Ontologie, die den Gegenstandsbereich Hochschule sowohl breit abdecken und gleichzeitig differenziert semantisch beschreiben soll. Das Problem der semantischen Suche besteht nun darin, dass sie für Informationssuchende so einfach wie bei gängigen Suchmaschinen zu nutzen sein soll, und gleichzeitig auf der Grundlage des aufwendigen Informationsmodells hochwertige Ergebnisse liefern muss. Es wird beschrieben, welche Möglichkeiten die verwendete Software K-Infinity bereitstellt und mit welchem Konzept diese Möglichkeiten für eine semantische Suche nach Dokumenten und anderen Informationseinheiten (Personen, Veranstaltungen, Projekte etc.) eingesetzt werden.

    Hat sich aus der Sicht der Keynote-Speaker und Referenten seit ihrem Auftritt auf der Buchmesse-Veranstaltung "Steilvorlagen für den Unternehmenserfolg" einiges verändert? Wir haben sie gefragt. Keynote-Speaker Prof. Bern Jörs lehrt Informationswissenschaft an der Hochschule Darmstadt und wurde von seinen Studierenden wiederholt zum Professor des Jahres gewählt.     Abstract
    Die Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt (ULB) ließ 2019 und 2020 ihre alten Zettelkataloge durch zwei externe Dienstleister retrokonvertieren. Im Zeitraum von 1,5 Jahren wurden insgesamt rund 1,2 Millionen Zettelkarten bearbeitet. Die zuvor über einen digitalisierten Imagekatalog nur begrenzt recherchierbaren Titel sind nun in den Online-Katalog der ULB integriert und auch über das Suchportal TUfind recherchierbar. Die folgenden Ausführungen berichten über die Ausgangssituation, den Verlauf und das Ergebnis der beiden Retrokonversionsprojekte. Außerdem gibt der Artikel einen Einblick in die Zusammenarbeit mit den beauftragten Unternehmen.

Mai 2011 - Wissensbilanzen sind ein Instrument des Wissensmanagements: Es geht darum, das in Organisationen und also in Unternehmen vorhandene individuelle und kollektive (organisationale) Humankapital zu erfassen und als Ressource nutzbar zu machen. Deutsche haben die Nase gefühlt vorn und feiern dies nächste Woche mit dem Kongress "Standortvorteil Wissen" in Berlin (am 19. und 20. Mai). 2004 hat das Wirtschaftsministerium erkannt, dass Wissensgesellschaften im Wissenswettbewerb stehen und dabei eigenes und fremdes Wissen in höchst komplexer Weise erfassen, steuern und nutzen müssen. Den steuernd-strategischen Wissenszugriff zugunsten des eigenen Wissensstandortes hat das Ministerium in größtmöglicher wissender Weitsicht gemeinsam mit dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionsanlagen und Konstruktionstechnik (IPK) entwickelt. Im Zentrum steht die Wissensbilanz, die 2004 und 2005 in einer vom Ministerium herausgegebenen und von IPK-Wissenschaftlern verfassten Broschüre "Wissensbilanz - Made in Germany" vorgestellt wird. 2008 erscheint die "Wissensbilanz 2.0", wieder mit dem Herstellungszusatz (online abrufbar). Das Projekt ist auf Wissenstransfer ausgelegt und wird vermarktet: Wissensmoderatoren stehen zum kostenpflichtigen Einsatz auch in Ihrem Unternehmen bereit.

    Abstract
    Dewey Decimal Classification and Relative Index, Edition 22 (DDC 22) will be issued simultaneously in print and web versions in July 2003. The new edition is the first full print update to the Dewey Decimal Classification system in seven years-it includes several significant updates and many new numbers and topics. DDC 22 also features some fundamental structural changes that have been introduced with the goals of promoting classifier efficiency and improving the DDC for use in a variety of applications in the web environment. Most importantly, the content of the new edition has been shaped by the needs and recommendations of Dewey users around the world. The worldwide user community has an important role in shaping the future of the DDC.
