- Abstract
- Neue Anforderungen an die Sondersammelgebietsbibliotheken Zwei Entwicklungen haben in den letzten Jahren massiv die Tätigkeit der Sondersammelgebiets-Bibliotheken verändert: Zum einen brachte die "elektronische Revolution" nicht nur neue Medienformate in die Bibliotheken, sondern veränderte auch Arbeitsformen, Dienstleistungen und Nutzererwartungen. Zum anderen sehen sich die Sondersammelgebiets-Bibliotheken seit der Veröffentlichung des Memorandums zur überregionalen Literaturversorgung 1998 mit Anforderungen konfrontiert, die weit über ihren bisherigen Auftrag hinausgehen. Diese Anforderungen, die nachfolgend noch ausgedehnt wurden und fortlaufend weiter entwickelt werden sollen, beinhalten vor allem - einen erweiterten Sammel- und Erschließungsauftrag durch Einbeziehung digitaler Dokumente und neuer Erschließungsformen, - die Erstellung digitaler Dokumente zur besseren Versorgung überregionaler Nutzer, - eine stärkere Profilierung und Zielgruppenorientierung, - die Weiterentwicklung von Serviceleistungen. Die Universitätsbibliothek der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (UB der HU Berlin) hat 1998 die Betreuung der Sondersammelgebiete (SSG) 7,13: "Allgemeine und vergleichende Volkskunde", 10: "Allgemeine und vergleichende Völkerkunde" sowie 24,2: "Hochschulwesen. Organisation der Wissenschaften und ihrer Einrichtungen" übernommen. Sie gehört damit zu den im ersten Teil des Memorandums genannten Bibliotheken der neuen Bundesländer, die neu in das SSG-System der überregionalen Literaturversorgung einbezogen wurden.

- "Wissenschaftler brauchen fundierte Informationen aus Quellen, auf die man sich verlassen kann. Die Suche nach solchen Quellen, wissenschaftlichen Aufsätzen, Dissertationen, Büchern, Datenbanken und Linklisten gestaltete sich bislang schwierig: Bibliotheken oder Verlage von Fachzeitschriften mussten einzeln angesteuert werden, einen zentralen, einheitlichen und einfachen Zugang gab es bislang, nicht. Das soll sich jetzt ändern: Das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) und von der Deutschen; Forschungsgemeinsehaft (DFG) geförderte Internetportal "vascoda", das nach dem Willen seiner Initiatoren auch Grundbaustein für die "Digitale Bibliothek Deutschland" sein soll, will Forschern Zugang zu wissenschaftlicher Information unterschiedlichster Fachrichtungen und unterschiedlichster Formate bieten. Das ist bundesweit in dieser Form ebenso einzigartig wie die Tatsache, dass die an vascoda angeschlossenen Datenbanken ausschließlich ;,geprüfte" Informationen liefern sollen: "Fachbibliothekare und Fachwissenschaftler der Anbieter, die sich unter dem vascoda-Dach zusammengeschlossen haben, prüfen, welche Texte vdrfügbar gemacht werden", sagt Christine Burblies von der vascoda-Geschäftsstelle in Hannover. "So können wir gewährleisten, dass die Informationen wissenschaftlichen Ansprüchen genügen." Das macht dann auch den wesentlichen Unterschied zu anderen Suchmaschinen aus: Die Suchmaske des Wissenschaftsportals ist zwar ähnlich einfach zu handhaben wie die Internet-Suchmaschine Google - vascoda verirrt sich aber nicht im World Wide Web. Und während andere Internet-Suchmaschinen nicht den Zugriff auf das so genannte "invisible web" bieten, also beispielsweise auf Bibliothekskataloge, ermöglicht vascoda auch den Zugriff auf dieses unsichtbare Netz. Das Wissenschaftsportal ist unentgeltlich nutzbar, und auch ein Großteil der Informationen ist kostenlos zu beziehen. Es sind aber auch kostenpflichtige Informationen verfügbar - zum Beispiel aus Verlagsangeboten und kommerziellen Datenbanken. Wer Informationen etwa zu soziologischen Fragen sucht, landet sicher auch auf den Internetseiten des Instituts für Soziologie in Darmstadt (www.ifs.tu-darmstadt.de/forsch.htm), das ebenso zu den vascoda-Anbietern gehört wie das Deutsche Institut für Internationale Pädagogik (DIPF) in Frankfurt (www.dipfde/index_1024.htm). In vascoda eingebunden sind zur Zeit 23 virtuelle Fachbibliotheken (ViFas), die vier großen Informationsverbünde EconDoc (Wirtschaft), GetInfo (Naturwissenschaften und Technik), infoconnex (Pädagogik, Sozialwissenschaften, Psychologie) und Medizin sowie die Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB), ein kooperativer Service von 209 Bibliotheken zur Bereitstellung von elektronischen Zeitschriften, -die im Internet publiziert werden. "Wir planen überdies die Erweiterung um das Fach Germanistik, und wenn es soweit ist, wird die Stadt- und Universitätsbibliothek Frankfurt diesen Service bereitstellen", sagt Burblies."

- Abstract
- Nun ist es heraus: Unter dem Namen "GOPORTIS" wird zukünftig die Kooperation der drei Deutschen Zentralen Fachbibliotheken (ZFB), zu denen die Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB), die Zentralbibliothek für Medizin (ZB MED) sowie die Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissenschaften (ZBW) gehören, vorangetrieben. GOPORTIS löst somit den bisherigen Arbeitstitel "Esplanade" ab. Der Name GOPORTIS wurde von einer Namensagentur kreiert. Er lässt verschiedene Assoziationen zu - Port wie Tür, Portal oder Hafen. "Das Go am Anfang suggeriert Aktivität und hat Aufforderungscharakter: Geh' zum Portal und hol' Dir Wissen", so Ulrich Korwitz, Direktor der ZB MED. Betont wird der Wortbeginn auch graphisch. Das Design zum Schriftzug schlägt einen Bogen von den Schmuckelementen, die die drei Institutionen symbolisieren, über das GO. "Das von einer Werbeagentur erarbeitete Coporate Design zeigt eine gelungene Farbkomposition, die sehr harmonisch wirkt und sich von den bestehenden Farbgebungen der Partner bewusst abhebt", erklärt Horst Thomsen, Direktor der ZBW. Und Uwe Rosemann ergänzt (TIB): "Wir sind sehr zufrieden. Der Name samt Claim "Eine Quelle. Alles Wissen" im Rahmen der gefundenen Corporate Identity hat das Potential, unsere gemeinsamen Strategien und Ziele für die Zukunft zu verwirklichen." Und die Ziele sind ambitioniert: Noch in diesem Jahr soll ein neues gemeinsames Portal für die Bestellung wissenschaftlicher Dokumente online gehen - ein viel geäußerter Wunsch der Kunden. Zukünftig können dann die Fachgebiete Technik, Naturwissenschaften, Medizin, Ernährung, Umwelt, Agrarwissenschaften und Wirtschaft aus einer Hand bedient werden. An der Implementierung des Portals wird bereits unter Hochdruck gearbeitet. Jede Bibliothek bringt Ihre Stärken und Kompetenzen mit vorhandenen Systemen wie TIBORDER, MedPilot und ECONIS ein. Das GOPORTIS-Portal soll erstmals auf der Online Information Conference im Dezember in London vorgestellt werden. In 2008 werden dann neben dem operativen Betrieb des Portals und des Bestelldienstes die Weiterentwicklung der gemeinsamen Dienstleistungen und das weitere Zusammenwachsen der Partner im Vordergrund stehen.
